What I want Borderlands 3 to be

Like all of us, I am hungry for a new, bigger and better, borderlands game. Although borderlands tps was not part of the “core serie”, it made a few improvement over borderlands 2, but not without some majors problems. I do think that Borderlands 3 will need to look at borderlands tps to be the best game it possibly can.
¸
Fist off, I think we can all agree that the base of bl3 needs to be borderlands 2. The UI, story, characters, weapons, ennemy, side-quest, everything was pretty much golden at launch. I do know that most of it will need to be changed for the sake of being a new game, but taking that and improving over it is a step in the right direction.

Second, many borderlands fans prefer the first game over the second for one big reason: The loot system. The loot system in borderlands 1 was so much balenced than the second one. Back then, a rare (blue) gun with great parts could outclass a legendary. I think that for Borderlands 3, great weapons should have a much better drop rate, but be a lot more dependant of their parts. That would makes casual happy of dropping their first legendary randomly ands the hardcore would farm for the “perfect” variant of a gun.

Next on my list is Bl Tps. Yes, tps didn’t featured farmable boss making it having next to no endgame, but it did a few things here and there that improved over Bl2. In OP8, everyone complained at how hard it was because of the halth and damge not scaling! Well in Bl Tps they “fixed” the scaling to make it more linear like Bl1. They also made characters talk so they have some more personnality, they added cryo damage, made skill tree overall better and story telling a bit better, especiallyin TVHM. I want all of that in Bl3, but better. And also…Make boss farmable!

Finally, I would love Borderlands 3 to be on Pandora, one last time, with all remaining Vault hunters alive! Make it 8 player Co-Op. Have some kind of sanctuary but with all online player in it. Add a PvP arena. Add the boss of the day so he drops more that day. Make Atlas and SnS return, buff bandit, make slagg return, add cryo, add another element, add other crazy NPC, get crazy in short, because that is borderlands: Craziness!
P.S. Sorry for errors I am french, tell me i f you agree or disagree, what you would want added or removed, etc.

I would love to see the loot system from BL1 return. A Legendary quality color scale with that feeling of getting a perfect or near perfect piece of gear. Enemies dropping the good gear they’re using. Chests being a consistent place to farm quality items. Explosive weapons that didn’t use gyrojets. Manufacturers creating all weapon types. Yes please!

Yeah. I find myself missing Maliwan shotguns :frowning:

Also, OP, there is a patch coming this month for TPS that will make bosses farmable.

Well to be presise, a Blue with awesome parts would usually be a purple since in Bl1 colour was a indicator of the quality of the sum of the guns parts. Wheras in Bl2/TPS colour is a template for quality.

But I agree 100% loot is the most important thing in Borderlands and Bl1s system was beautiful, near the end of my first playthrough of Bl2 I already knew something was up.

Bl3 should go the way of Bl1, make the game around the weapon system, do that first. A system like Bl1s but with even more parts, more titles/prefixs and more manufactorers.

What about Proficiencies? Those were wonderful, but they got rid of them.

Yeah, I liked then much better than BAR because they had an end, I’m not going to grind for something that’s infinete.

But they wernt perfect, a hybrid system between profs and BAR would be perfect IMO.

So completing challanges gives you stat boosts related to the Challange on a gun.

EG: Killing X amount enemies with SMGs gives a damage boost for SMGs, with each rank of the Challange complete you get x% increase.

Then maybe crit-kills from the hip challanges improve hip fire accuracy

And another Challange gives another boost.

I think 3 per gun type would be good, with each type getting stats that further define that weapon type. If every gun type gets the all the same boost, it kills variety. All guns need a damage buff, and two other stats.

With this system you could even have sheild, Grendade and melee proficientcy. Which IMO is needed since as the seriers progresses alternate playstyles are becoming more and more important.

Fantastic system that I would love to see return.

I love the loot system of bl2. They better keep that rather than relying on pure randomness to get what you want. Also the scaling of regular uvhm was fine in bl2, and with some slight tweaking even op8 would be better scaled than tps or 1 imo, those are both a little too easy

More community events in bl3 would be amazing. That’s a fantastic way to make people continue to play the game

Do you mean how legendarys are obtained, or how the guns are generatored with parts/Manfuactorer/prefixs/titles etc…

If it’s the first one, yeah I get you (I disagree, but understand) if it’s the second one, I honestly cannot comprehend your thoughts.

And the first game is far better than the others by a whole lot of other reasons, its just an amazing game overall…

I’m really happy with the loot system in Borderlands 2. I like that fact that guns “expire” as you go up levels. Maybe it’s because I played BL2 before the original, but I just didn’t care for the weapons in the first game as much.

My wishlist for Borderlands 3 is really short so far:

  • Add some key combo so I can pick up loot while simultaneously marking it as trash.
  • Let me pull the slot machine again without having to pick up that white gun. Just pull it back in the machine or something! Ditto for the Golden Key chest.

I think borderlands 3 or as randy tweeted borderlands 4, should make golden keys a really rare drop from bosses etc

Be prepared for THE LIST:

  • The TFTB protagonists as the newest members.
  • Nearly all the Vault Hunters alive, and playable. Except Wilhelm. He’s pretty dry for a character. And Roland as well. Also have them have slight personality changes: Nisha is more polite and less of a jerk (but still very sadistic), Mordy is not such a drunk, etc.
  • BL1 weapons back, at least.
  • Have enemies drop the gear that they’re using, plus ammo and health every time.
  • Reduced Oz consumption, bigger capacity in Oz kits.
  • All legendaries and uniques from the three previous games back!
  • Loyalty rewards for save files.
  • Make revolvers OP again.
  • More enemy variety in Scavs.
  • You can pick a manufacturer to sponsor you, except Hyperion.
  • Unique dialogue for all Vault Hunters!
  • Visit all the places from the previous games, and their DLCs.
  • More benefits for solo players/Aspyr users.
  • References to not only pop culture, but the previous games. Like, A LOT MORE.
  • Return of the Grinder!
  • Return of NPCs we LIKE!
  • If possible, we can revisit the previous Vaults…
  • Better AI, like enemies in BL1.
  • Longer FFYL time, and the ability to throw grenades in it.
  • Better scaling for all modes.
  • You don’t need a DLC for UVHM.
  • Bigger chance of finding greens than whites.
  • MORE LOOT MIDGETS!
  • Fast Travel stations, EVERYWHERE!
  • You can buy parts for your weapon from the Ammo Dump.
  • Character development!
  • More skins and heads!
  • Improved level design, especially for the Veins of Helios.
  • BIGGER CHANCE OF FINDING LEGENDARIES IN NVHM AND TVHM!
  • All manufacturers make all weapon types.
  • Cryo on Pandora!
  • Slag on Elpis!
  • A graveyard for the dead, as seen in Tiny Tina’s DLC, that can be visited.
  • A weapon showroom.
  • THE RETURN OF OLD HYPERION!

I’d want something in between BL1 & BL2.
As for specifics, no need to reinvent the wheel: we just need new characters and a proper new story.
Just not something a-la-TPS: throwing everything that worked in BL2 into a generic world and hoping it’d work.

I think Pandora’s also done now, better move to another planet.

I don’t mind Oz, but then avoid putting air-filling stations in every corner of the game, something that renders the concept a bit useless.

Oh and, please, no grinder. Or at least, don’t put the whole loot pool in it.
Recycling the weapons is a great idea, but you shouldn’t get legendaries out of it.
There shouldn’t be incentives to spend time on it. That’s not the point of the game.

I can throw rockets in FFYL. I still don’t understand why I can’t throw a grenade.

I like collecting skins/heads. But many are way too generic.
I’d rather have less but have differences that don’t stick to only colour.
Also, some purple skins are more common than some of the whites…

No more loading time between areas and I’d also love to see some of the enemies unrestricted to specific places.

Involve your fanbase to some extent.

Also, I’d love to play Gaige again and/or play with a grown-up Tina.
But that’s just me!

Didn’t they mention that the next game involved interplanetary travel somewhere?

Uh, no.

All they’ve announced is that they’re ready to start development. There’s no real info ( likely because even they don’t know where it’s going, it’s probably in the “big discussions about what we should do” stage of development)

But multiple planets would be the next logical step. That way you can have really varied environments/wildlife, as well as environmental effects (EG high/low gravity on some planets, no oxygen like TPS or high oxygen content where fire destroys everything.)

But we’ll be waiting A LOOOOOONG time for real info.

Hey, at least it isn’t Valve.

Krieg needs to be a playable character again, as well Mordy and Brick.

Maliwan shotties
MALIWAN DEFILER
S&S Orion
Atlas Aries and Chimera
Tediore Equalizer
TORGUE SMG GODDAMMIT

Seraph weapons must stay.

All slaughter domes should be runnable, more of them and ones that provide randomized enemies but with a theme (style of combat or something). Something between dp and a slaughter dome. Guarenteed drops are welcome after a good battle.

If using low grav be more inventive with its use or just make better use of vertical environments. Slides and ladders that kind of thing.

Randomized events, creatures, quests that recur on a schedule or timer with locality in mind. Consider time of day, week, month.

Consider balance between random and assigned drops and enemies that use the weapon or power of the weapon
they drop.

Consider weapon modification, part swapping, or improvement based on its use (legendaries and up).

Consider builds, skill trees or mods that work around elemental types and play styles. Zero is a good example, melee, general guns and sniping.

AI that doesn’t glitch. AI that run in discernable packs.

I wouldn’t read much into that because TPS wasn’t #3.

Nisha died in BL 2. Even if she didn’t, I highly doubt she’d want to be with the VHs who killed her boyfriend.
