What shield is good on Wilhelm?

This is my skill build: http://thepresequel.com/Wilhelm/150510000000505151005150551500001/celenforcer,auto
Which shield is good on Wilhelm? Fabled Tortoise?

Reogerator or sham for general purpose, black hole or avalanche for extra crowd control. Not sure about tortoise, never ever used one before.

Fabled Tortoise is a great shield. If you wanted to go that route I’d recommend moving points out of Gun Show or Emergency Response and into Divert Power.

A purple Adaptive Shield is ace too.

Thanks man. Moved points from Emergency Response into Divert Power and I was astonished by the survivability of Wilhelm. My shield didn’t even deplete in the Bosun fight, underestimated him before haha

I’m glad it worked well for you. It just doesn’t seem fair with Divert Power, Man and Machine, Energize, and Heatsinks adding to an already massive shield capacity. Also my go-to shield on Athena for similar reasons because of Conduit and United Front.

High resistance , mid size Cap a delay below 2.5 Purple Adaptive

Mix with a Moxxi 20% damage reduction Cocktail and points in heat sinks, Man and Machine, Hazmat and at lest one point in divert power and 5 in auxillery tanks…

And you are just REALLY hard to kill

I always run with an Adaptive shield.

I switch around but end up mostly using the Prismatic Bulwark, 'cause – lasers! Plus – those little gifts that pop out are nice.

Little gifts? Are you thinking about 3DD1.3? I run with that and the Prismatic Bulwark a lot, but I also carry a good purple adaptive shield for special occasions. I have not found the other special shields mentioned higher in the thread, though.

Yeah, sorry – I use both the Prismatic & 3dd1.e, , got them mixed.

reogenator generally, sham against those enemies with guns.

It all depends on what skills you build around.

If you have a purple adaptive shield, farm for one with the most elemental resistance. Then, invest 5 points into Hard to Kill and farm for a Juggernaut Oz Kit which will give you more elemental and “other” damage resistances. I am using this now and my Wilhelm is pretty tough to kill.

If you’re going for a laser build, you gotta go with the Prismatic Bulwark. Consistent Sentinal farming will get you one, but you want to keep farming/grinding for one that will give you 94% laser absorption and highest laser damage bonus. If you combine this with the Eddie Oz kit and invest points into Laser Focus, your lasers will be doing 100%+ extra damage than what they are normally spec’d for.

these are my “set it and forget it” builds. which means, if you’re going to be farming or playing with this build for a long time you won’t have to mess with much.

IMO, using other shields like the Avalanche and maybe an amp damage shields should only be used to get the BA skill ranks that comes with kills while wearing the Shield. Or, the Sham, which I strictly use to conserve Ammo.

Not a fan of any other shields honestly, too low of capacities and the fabled tortoise makes you a sitting duck since it reduces speed. Although, I have seen some pretty good purple tortoise shields, but not my style.

no points for hard to kill? I spec 5 and with an adaptive shield and juggernaut oz kit you are a walking tank with Wilhelm.

For me, hard to kill is a skill that can only be applied in certain instances because of the very short stack life. Where I use it consists of the sentinel, eclipse/Eos fights as well as most of the time in the mutator arena. Sometimes I use it in the hollodome

where do you put the points instead? is hazmat worth any investment?

Hazmat isn’t really ever worth it. If you have a haymaker you make hazmat redundant entirely.

Otherwise it doesn’t compare to points better spent in fortify, heatsinks, energize, & or rapid reinforcement.

Hazmat is only really good when you have a chronicler where it serves as a decent 1 point wonder to get down the tree.

One point in HazMat is all I ever spend.

17% for one point is a good return of investment for that one point.

I am having very good success with this and a Purple Adaptive or a Bulwark…Celestial Enforcer, Eddie, Vladof Cryo Grenade

Kind of works with everything…lasers, chuckers, guns…etc

Ahh been away while & completely forgot about the chronicler. It’s a great class mod. So I shouldn’t have forgotten about it. Smh.
