As the title suggests, can elemental guns be obtained from the grinder (aside from those with a fixed element such as the Fatale). I’ve been trying to get an electric IVF or electric Torrent for my CS Athena and they always come out as non-elemental. I tried changing the purple SMG (which was a tediore non elemental) to a maliwan electric SMG and they still come out as non elemental.
Thanks for any response, I just want to know if it’s worth to keep trying to get these form the grinder.
Thanks for the responses, I guess, as has been stated many times before, random is random u.u

It feels like its weighted 50/50 between NE and elemental, which is insanely dumb. They do spawn but finding one with good parts and prefix took me FOREVER.
Somewhat related, I seem to have a problem with grinding Cryo elemental guns sometimes. Any clue why?

Where they just general cryo guns, or unique ‘red text’ ones? Assuming the ingredients match a grinder recipe, the element shouldn’t matter. ‘Red text’ items seem to require different handling though?
They weren’t red text, last time it happened it was the green Cryo guns that “Rocket Surgery” gave you from the yellow chest next to the science blender.

Odd. Don’t think I picked those up at all last time, as I already had cryo weapons. They aren’t marked as “mission items” are they? Probably can’t grind those…
They didn’t have the star, no. Probably is some line of code in there just to make sure you don’t accidentally grind up your potentially only cryo weapons so you don’t lock yourself from completing the quest (even though you could use any cryo weapon in the game.)
Elemental guns are somewhat rare from drops/chests/vendors (excluding Mailwan guns, Torgue guns, rocket launchers, and lasers which are always elemental). I don’t think the balance is any different from the Grinder than from the rest of the game.

Well, no it’s not different than the rest of the game. That’s what I never liked about the balance between NE and elemental. It should be weighted equally for each.
That’s what you get for not doing side quests. Fairly early on, you could do an optional mission for Tina that gave you the Teapot, which is an excellent Corrosive Dahl pistol.
Same with Deadlift in TPS; Springs has a side mission which gives you a Mailwan Shock sniper rifle that’s excellent for killing him.
Not if you’re on the first run-through of Bloodshot Stronghold; no corrosive weapons drop at that point, fire is useless against armor, and non-elemental does reduced damage against them. Shock is your best option at that point, especially with W4R-D3N.
Anyway, I have been having terrible luck getting the right shotguns from the Grinder (Jakobs for Nisha, Fire/Shock/Cryo for Athena.)
