I got an op 8 skookum Goldfinger from a tubby spiderant and I’ve determined to figure how to use it. The farther the enemy, the higher the damage and it has a pseudo-bore effect. I used it in Lynchwood and twice I’ve hit over 70 million damage on a critical hit with the sham and antagonist shield. I’ve never played Zero so I don’t know how to shoot an enemy in order to get the bore damage. I assume the 70 million damage was from the bore. Is there a special way to shoot an enemy in order to get that massive bore damage? I haven’t hit that much damage in any other tests.
As far as I know the damage for the Godfinger is based on distance, the farther the better.

The Godfinger does more damage based upon projectile travel time, not distance. So, you should probably avoid using Vel0city with Zer0 if you are trying to maximize the potential damage. The Sham and Antagonist will have no impact on the damage the Godfinger does, since they do not boost damage. A Bee shield, however, will increase the damage the Godfinger does since the Bee is an AMP shield.

I understand that the further the enemy the more damage, up to 14x the damage of the gun. But 77 million damage is a heck of a lot more than 14x the damage. So I assume that the bore was coming into effect somehow in some way.
Perhaps BA rank and skills played a part
The damage is likely the result of several factors: weapon damage, up to 14x damage depending upon projectile travel time, the weapon’s 160% critical bonus and any combination of skills and equipment. Some equipment could boost damage. As for skills, the following is an example of Zer0’s Sniping Tree containing some skills that alone and / or combined could also factor in determining damage; especially for critical hits.

Since I don’t know how you are currently speced or equipped, I cannot determine what other factors might be at play. However if you have some of the skills in the above link, they would definitely factor in. For example, if you have 5 points in OSOK and reload between each shot you will get +60% damage.

According to the Wiki, the bullet can also split, creating 5 extra projectiles, and the way it reads, it seems to be saying that that’s in addition to the 14x damage boost.
I don’t know what ACC you had on your but its base damage is 510336 so lets look at how high zer0 gets it on a crit with a build. I don’t know what your build was but I’ll assume the basic bonuses where there.
If you had this build http://bl2skills.com/assassin.html#505051054150455105015050410000 and you hit them will all the pellets, post split with only 1 stack of rising shot, 1 Kunai on a slagged enemy with 0 CA and minimum distance that is 68 million damage.
So add your com buffs, a b0re multiplier, deception, a few stacks of CA, and a distance buff and you can get to that damage easy with zer0.
You can see in that maya video im getting high 20 to low 30 million with it without a full damage spec, zer0 can put out much more than maya can.
