So How Does Digistruct Peak Work?

Ok guys, so I’m worried to start DP. Question: When you go thru, does the gear you have lvl with you or do you have to find it all again?

I’m pretty sure it doesn’t level scale. If you want some one to play with I’m a level 53 mechomancer gamer tag jsbigdog3

No, it doesn’t scale with you. If for instance you have a lvl72 DPUH, you can probably get to OP2/3 before having to farm for an OP3 DPUH.
Some people get to OP4 and then farm for OP4 items and get through with those items.

That would be a bad idea for you to TRY to go the DP at level 53… Most people don’t attempt it until they’re at or around level 72. At 53 you’d get slaughtered trying to go to DP, you’d only make things harder for anyone you went there with. You’re jst now starting UVHM, so you’ve got a while before your ready imo…

Yes, I’ll second that. I’ve just got to OP3 with Maya and that got a little tricky with my L72 gear (and L71 Sand Hawk). Every other spawn seems to be a Surveyor, which is fun (not!). I think OP4 will be doable but painful! Just farming for The Bee upgrade to give myself a better chance before taking the plunge again.

I got into a routine of farming a few specifics between runs on the way up. It is very fast to farm Bee shields and Unkempt Harolds, so those two fall into a “why not?” category. The Pirate DLC is very quick, so I reset my Axton’s story progress every couple of levels to get new Sand Hawks and Pimpernels and did a lot of “hand me down” stuff.

Salvador was the fastest to gear-refresh for, by far. New Harold, new shield, and the Grog Nozzle levels up as you do, so… done.

You have to farm you gear again, but I recommend waiting until OP4 to farm again as long as your current gear is at least level 72. There is really no point / necessity to farming every 2 levels.

This ^

It would be pointless to attempt DP at level 53 for the purpose of obtaining OP levels. You cannot actually unlock any of the OP levels until you are level 72 (OP1 = Level 73 --> OP8 = Level 80)

I recommend farming Knuckledragger for an at level Hornet (Corrosive) Pistol - preferably React or Neutralizing. IIRC, my React Hornet (Corrosive) Pistol has a Fire Rate of 16.3; and this does not account for Maya’s Wreck skill. Also, being a Dahl weapon it will have Burst Fire. It is much easier and faster than farming Captain Flynt for a Thunderball Fists (Shock). Beehawk + PL and Knuckeldragger will drop before you empty your first clip and have to reload. You’ll be glad you did when you PL those Surveyors and they melt in seconds, even the shielded ones although admittedly the UBA Surveyors last a little longer (but not much). Also works very well against Loaders but is much less effective against Constructors. I recommend a Pimpernel (Corrosive) or White Death / Lyuda (Corrosive) for the Constructors. The Raid on DigiStruct Peak wiki should give you an idea of what to expect. IIRC, eventually you face 2 Scorches and other enemies at once, multiple Doc Mercy’s and other enemies at once, multiple Black Queens and other enemies at once, multiple Bone Heads and other enemies at once, Dukino’s mom and other enemies at once, Saturn (and even 2 Saturns, yes 2 of them) at once and at OP5+ the Binary Boss (alone thankfully) . Good luck!

Good advice, thanks. I do have a Hornet (not Reactive) which is great against the Loaders but the Thunderball Fists generally rules the Surveyors like nothing else. Two shots generally does most of them and even the UBA ones rarely take more than one clip especially if I PL them. You’re right about farming for the TF - took me about a week last time I did it which got boring fast.

I have a Corrosive Pimpernel which is also great for Loaders but as it’s L72 it’s getting a little long in the tooth now. I’m trying to hold off resetting quests as long as I can so will see how things go once I get OP4. I use the BeeHawk generally until I get to the Assassins, when I switch to the Antagonist with the DPUH, although I’ve noticed even the DPUH is starting to struggle a bit, especially against Oney. As my SandHawk is L71 it probably won’t last much beyond OP4 and I’ll undoubtedly either have to consider another strategy or bite the bullet and reset. But when I have three Rabid Skags and two UBA Surveyors converging on me at once I’ve found the BeeHawk, along with the TF and some judicious jumping, still gives me a much better chance than any other combo.

The later levels you have described do look a little scary. I hope I can do them solo!

Since the droprates for legendaries have increased, farming new gear each level changed from a colossal waste of time to something that doesn’t take a very long time. Quest rewards can be an issue if you have to reset the playthrough and have to do several stories all over again. So if you want both a Blockade and an Interfacer, you might want to look for an alternative.

Well, truth be told, I’ve actually wasted more time on failures than it takes me to get a kitten from the start of CoC, so, why not get a kitten each level if that’s my current weapon of choice.

That is one of the reasons I mentioned the Hornet (Corrosive) pistol. With the increased drop rate hotfix, realistically it should take no longer than 60 - 90 minutes tops (and that is if RNG is being unkind) to get one from Knuckledragger. Getting one at level with a decent prefix and parts, is entirely another matter.

On a somewhat related note, I attempted to take on Bewn Boom solo at OP8 and was less than successful. Enemies would not stop spawning. I must have killed at least 20. Killed the first Boss guy and a bunch of Psychos. Somehow the Sky Hunters off in the distance decided to get involved. I was hiding from Big Bertha while taking on multiple Psychos and Sky Hunters. The Psychos and Sky Hunters must have formed a temporary truce, since they never attacked each other. Long story short, got slagged by my own Antagonist Shield which then got knocked down to about 25% - 33%, got knocked back out into open an one-shotted into FFYL by Big Bertha. Gave up as the Sky Hunters remained too far away to shoot.

Holding off farming for as long as you can is definitely the way to go. It minimizes the time you spend farming to replace outleveled gear. Assassin Oney is resistant to Explosive damage. That would explain why you are having issues using a DPUH (Explosive) against him. So, if you do decide to use a DPUH (Explosive) against Oney, it is even more imperative to make sure it is at level. Optionally, you could equip a Relic that boosts Explosive damage to somewhat mitigate Oney’s resistance.

If you are having substantial trouble with DigiStruct Peak, you should probably consider recruiting other players to help you with the OP levels (especially the higher OP levels) if you are running DigiStruct Peak Solo. If you have to replace a weapon every level or 2 to get thru DigiStruct Peak then:

A) It isn’t a very good weapon in general

B) It is a good weapon in general but doesn’t synergize well with your character

C) It is a good weapon, it does synergize well with your character but your Build (and possibly supporting gear) is flawed

If the answer is C, then you should alter your Build so it will last more than 1 or 2 levels at DigiStruct Peak. If the answer is either A or B, then you shouldn’t be using that weapon at DigiStruct Peak. Any weapon that is good in general and synergizes well with your character and Build will last more than 1 or 2 levels at DigiStruct Peak.

In the case of the Kitten specifically, you have to first defeat Motor Mamma. Then you have to complete the mission Everybody Wants to be Wanted for Moxxi. This requires some level of progress in Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage. To farm the Kitten every OP level, you would have to reset your UVHM playthru every OP level. This is less than effiicient, to say the least. And depending upon the character, there may be better Assault rifles available that are more easily farmed. For example, in the case of Maya a better and more easily obtained option is the Veruc or the Seraphim, if the element is Fire.

Just played my first ever multiplayer (to get to OP4). OMG, I can’t believe how much easier it is than going solo!

That is why I recommended getting help with DigiStruct Peak, if at all possible. It will make it easier which will, in turn, minimize the frustration. Admittedly, it is more of an issue at the higher OP levels.

I think I died about 3 times in total on my way from level 72 to OP8 when I had my Siren team up with an assassin who was knew to the Peak and one of these times my partner jumped off a cliff to evade a Surveyor. So yeah, solo is way more difficult. On multiplayer, you can split aggro, you can revive each other, there’s an abundance of slag and you can do multiple things at the same time.

Yes, we died a few times but that was largely a result of getting too cocky. I also forgot once that changing your loadout doesn’t pause the game like it does in solo, so bit of an adjustment to make!

Hey BashBrother, I have yet to run digipeak with any of my characters too so if ya wanna run together send me a message on psn. I’m already on your friends list.

By the way, good topic, (wondered this myself ).

Actually, I think it’s because I’m only at the very beginning, just got OP1 for my first character, don’t know Digistruct peak all that well, and CoC was one of my favorites. Also, you don’t have to beat Motor Mama to get Everybody wants to be Wanted. And all honesty, I really suck at first person shooters. And since we’re on it, my current gear.

Still using a level 50 slayer of terra mod and am looking for a legendary soldier, but that’s where I’m at.

On the subject of hornets harolds et al, i would like to add: redundant shock lady fist. Takes down the demonic sorceror in a few headshots. Same for crystalisks. Great gun. Always in my backpack.

I’m really struggling to get to OP8 with Krieg. I got my Siren and GZ there, but I just can’t cope with Scorch either with a hellfire/FOTF/grog build, or a Melee/Damage focused build.

Can anyone help please?

Don’t use a Fire Weapon or FoTF shield (for Incendiary Novas) when fighting Scorch. His name alone should tell you something  . Use Explosive (example: DPUH) or even Shock (example: Practicable Butcher (Shock).
