This would make the game more enjoyable
Have you tried any limited (weapon types/manufacturers) playthroughs? It’s a fun way to add more challenge to the game…sometimes a LOT more challenge, depending on how much you limit yourself!

i set myself new challenges by not allowing myself the special skill (playing Roland), not using grenades, and recently playing only with Eridian weapons and before that only (well, almost only 
) with rocket launchers - in both cases to get to the level 50 proficiency
