Bloodlust Stacks and Durations

A lot of the Bloodlust tree skills get specific buffs based on the number of Bloodlust stacks that you have. For example, Taste of Blood gives +0.1% damage reduction per stack per point. Effectively, up to +50% DR at 100 stacks with 5/5 points.

Since my Bloodlust stacks are constantly bouncing up and down, does anyone know if the amount of DR I have during BXR / RtB from ToB is “locked in” when I start the BXR? Or does it constantly fluctuate with the current Bloodlust stacks?

In other words, if I started my current BXR with 20 stacks and now have 70 stacks, do I currently have +10% DR (“locked in” at the start of BXR) or +35% DR from ToB?

I can see my magazine size changing in real time as the Bloodlust stacks change thanks to BFG. However, I can’t tell if the skills with durations (ToB, all kill skills, etc.) are “locked in” when they activate or if they change with your current number of stacks. Does anyone know?

Thanks in advance!

it fluctuates. But as long as you’re causing damage, it’s easy to keep BL stacks topped off at 100. The reason I use a Storm Front is to both build and maintain BL stacks.

Kill skills are “locked” in when they first process I believe. For example, Blood Bath would give you 250% weapon damage if your stacks are at 100, but that’ll go down as your stacks fall. Things like Thrill of the Kill will be locked in when they process because they only process once (on a kill).

Basically what you want to do is get to your max stacks as soon as possible and keep them for as long as possible. I routinely hit the visual damage cap using bloodsplosion in confined places like the back of Pete’s bar, but it’s because I keep my stacks up through killing and my grenades. If you can kill multiple enemies quickly, you’ll do just fine.

Awesome, thanks! I have no problems building stacks now that I have 5/5 ToB (level 42, Full Mania, and Bloodlust to Bombardier)

The main reason I was asking was to determine whether I should try to unload on enemies with elemental SMGs to build stacks before I go into BXR / RtB the first time or not.

Since you said the DR from ToB fluctuates over the course of BXR, then I don’t have to worry about only starting BXR when I have high stacks.

If you have release the beast, I would wait until it’s available before you rampage. That way you get the extra damage resistance, extra melee damage, and the reset of BXR.

Of course. In most cases I spend the “waiting time” rushing towards them to put an axe in their face as soon as I’m done mutating.

I use the rapier until RtB is ready in case I get there too fast.

Good plan. You’re invulnerable while you’re changing into beast mode, so it’s a good idea to rush at your enemies so you’re in the perfect position to slice and dice them.
