[Build] Assault Assassin

Assault Assassin

This is a OP8, close to medium range, fast paced shotgun build centered around the Butcher. Nothing too complicated about it, just aim for the head and deny your opponents existance. It’s quite purely an endgame build, one does not get Practicable Butcher’s for every element at level 14. The playstyle though suites leveling very well.

Skills

The skill build is pretty general, but I find it to suite the best with the build.

Edit: If you’re more towards Deception shots and “one shot one kill” playstyle (like I am) then you might want to consider swapping fearless to 0ne sh0t 0ne kill and take one point of f0ll0wthr0ugh and add it into ambush.

Equipment

This is not the easiest-to-acquire-gear build, so you may have to ask the trading forums.

-Slot 1: Grog Nozzle
-Slot 2: Fire Practicable Butcher
-Slot 3: Corrossive Practicable Butcher
-Slot 4: Slag Banbury Pimpernel/Shock Practicable Butcher
-Shield: Antagonist
-COM: Legendary Killer/Chaotic Evil Rogue
-Relic: Bone of The Ancients (of the element you’re currently using)
-Grenade: Longbow Slag Transfusion (0.0 fuse time)

In your backpack:
-Double Penetrating Unkempt Harold (For explosive/non-elemental only enemies, for an example The Skeleton Kings, also a good backup weapon)
-Sheriffs Badge (To support DPUH when you need it)
-Magic Missile/Chain Lighting etc. (For replenishing your grenades)
-The Bee (Could be useful in some situations, not recommended for regular use due to poor protection)
-The Sham (Very protective shield in some situations, good if running low on ammo)
-Longbow Quazar (mainly against hyperius)

Why Practicable prefix? The Practicable prefix/ vertical grip attachment adds 2 extra pellets to the Butchers low base of 3, effectively almost doubling your potential damage output.

Strategy

Slag enemies with the grog, throw your deception, throw kunai, aim for the crit spot, shoot, get your kill skills going, shoot many enemies. Simple. The beauty of the Butcher is that it is fairly accurate, so it can be used from range, like a normal weapon, pistol etc. as well as point blank. You do not need to slag every enemy, the weapon kills things just fine even without it, though slagging is still recommended because it saves ammo.

The variable magazine size and high fire rate help you insert several bullets into your opponents face in a short amount of time. This can be devastating with all Zer0s critical bonuses, and the Practicable prefix with right element help maximize the damage output. It’s also very ammo efficient. You don’t need a second wind weapon, the range and reverse recoil of the Butcher make it a perfect weapon to continue using if you go down. It’s also an effective B0re weapon due to fast fire rate and multiple projectiles.

It’s a great build for general mobbing, like going through the campaign, or farming campaign bosses and minibosses. I went through Pirates Booty with this build, not dying once. The Peak is manageable. This is not a build meant to kill raid bosses.

Feel free to leave questions and suggestions, I know this ain’t the most professional build guide. It’s my first build I’ve actually put time and thought into.

The Carnage is an incredibly good shotgun, I think this’ll do fine. I’d take those points out of Precisi0n and put them into Be Like Water, but only because when I’m at close shotgun range with enemies, I can get a lot of extra damage from tagging them with my sword (Death Blossom and Be Like Water) while we circle strafe each other, which then saves Decepti0n for making a run for it or for a final blow.

Also, there’s no way I would get points down to Execute without dropping one there if for no other reason than Executing into a bandit (if they don’t die) staggers them such that their head is pointed right at you to unload on, but that’s just me.

Uhm- not to be that guy but he did say this was for Butchers, so… @thekjk11- sounds interesting but right now all my OP8 Butchers are on Krieg- maybe when I get done preparing him to do a complete OP8 play thru I’ll hand them off to Zero and give this a try…

Well that’s another playstyle and I’m sure it works just as well. I like Precision because it tightens up the shotguns spread and even in almost point blank you will miss more without it. And I don’t need execute because I never waste a Deception shot.

I hope you’re not shooting that Carnage at close range. :dukecensor:

I wouldn’t use a Carnage with Zer0 since it can’t get critical hits (it fires rockets after all).
Another beauty of the Butcher is that, thanks to it’s special hability, it can fire non-stop for long periods, giving you absurd dps.

You’re right. That’s what I meant with the variable mag size. And DPUH over the carnage for zer0 as an explosive weapon.

Yeah, sorry - I meant Butcher :balloon:
