Bloodlust or Hellborn

I’m new to Krieg and I’m not sure which is better. What do you guys prefer?

Hey mate, welcome to Krieg circle.

I wouldn’t necessarily say one is better than the other hands down.

I’d much rather take on Master Gee as Hellborn in OP, and I feel like Bloodsploding Vora is the only method I could manage.

The issue with Bloodlust, as a tree, is that it definitely benefits you more in late game than early game, but the same could be argued for Hellborn to some degree. I’ve often argued that Mania is the easiest early game tree in my opinion.

You really need to mark your own talents as well.

  • What is your playstyle?
  • What are your weaknesses?
  • Are there things you’re good at, but hate doing?

Are you thinking of any particular builds? Are you playing with other people?

i personally can’t make hellborn work.

I think I like Bloodlust more tho I’m only half way down. I tried Hellborn but it seemed to do more harm than good

It is. Both Hellborn and Bloodlust need a lot of points to be useful, but mania is useful from the get-go, especially Empty the Rage.

@BTK420247: as Giu said, it depends on your playstyle and gear. If you like using elemental weaponry, then go Hellborn, but only when you can get 5/5 Elemental Empathy for the extra healing. If you like slicing and dicing your enemies, go with Bloodlust after you get Release the Beast in the Mania tree. Bloodlust is primarily a support tree for the other two and isn’t really recommended as a primary tree though some would disagree.

Bloodlust and Mania seem to work well for me

I always go Mania/Hellborn. Whatever can survive my initial elemental assault gets finished off with Release the Beast. I’ve found it to be a near unstoppable combination.

I’m only lvl 58 I’ll give Mania/Hellborn another shot when I have more points to spend.

Mania/Hellborn, for OP’s.

Agree with Giu for going Mania on an early K mainly because Empty the Rage and Feed the Meat. I’m running a Hellborn K through in OP8 and provided to be more tanky and PC Crasher than a Bloodlust one (yet Bloodlust stack provides more gun and melee damage, plus BLOOOOOOOOODSPLOOOOSION).

My suggestion about gear for going Hellborn: Hellfire, slag, Storm Front and Omen. Good to go, high survivality.

I’ve also seen people using the Flame of the Firehawk shield, does it work well with Hellborn?

It’s a Damn near necessity… Flame of the firehawk+any moxxi weapon=walking death

I don’t think that FOTfH + Moxxi are THAT neccesary with Hellborn K. I run OP8 Hellborn K, and use a Rough Rider + Hellfire and I can get the same amount of healing (or even more) than using that combo.

Plus, everyone’s using Mox and Flame, why not use other thing?, also consider that RR boosts damage reduction (combined with Number Nerves and/or Taste of Blood) and fire rate (with Embrace the Pain).

Don’t think I’ve ever had the Rough Rider and personally I’ve never found Moxxi weapons that appealing

Agreed. I don’t use the combo myself.

I do like the idea of Hellborn with the FotF + Hellfire or a Florentine

But the Florentine has the issue that all Plasma Casters have: ammo consumption.

I made a run on Bloodshot Stronghold with the Florentine, and it is viable, but it is surpassed by the Hellfire in terms of healing in my opinion. All depends on your playstyle and build.

I think that Fire Plasma Casters (especially Maliwan ones) are a nice alternative to the Hellfire. I’m going to make a comparison between both.

Fixed that for you : )

Actually, you’re both wrong.

While PCs do use twice the amunition as normal SMGs, that hardly is an issue for them. SMGs have the secong largest pool in the game and if you are using more than one SMG on a charecter who isn’t Maya, you may want to reconcider your gear choices.

The Florentine is many things, but garage is not one of them. Something you need to remember when using it is that you arn’t using it to do damage, it is a utility weapon used for slaging and striping shields at the same time, it may not do either of those tasks individualy as well as some other weapons, but it does both with decent enough efficincy.

Shield stripping is overrated at mobbing as pretty much any weapon can either one-shot though or quickly wear it down, compare it’s slagging performance with things like the Slagga or a Pimpernel and you’re left with a weapon that does “meh” levels of slagging and a great performance at something that is for the most part irrelevant, as most weapons are more than capable to break shields just as fast.

I prefer grenades over guns when stripping shields- Chain Lightning, Quasar and Storm Front being particular favorites. That being said, since I started with Bloodlust with Krieg that’s my suggestion for you- Bloodlust first then either Mania of Hellborn…
