So this thread is for discussing the possible addition of Rocket Launchers to Nisha’s Top Gear thread. If anyone has any good knowledge of certain Rocket Launchers for use with Nisha that perform well against different bosses, mobbing, or as a reliable FFYL tool, or whatever. Please use this thread to post your information with understandable intelligible data or a video proving clearly that adding certain Rocket Launchers to the Top Gear would be beneficial to anyone who is interested in using them. All I ask is people please don’t chime in with things like “Nukem should be in Nisha’s Top Gear because its obviously the strongest and most awesome” because saying things like this will only dilute and throw the thread off topic, its also highly un-helpful and it will just make you look stupid for saying it.
That being said I have taken some time to test some Rocket Launchers against Eclipse. I know he is not the basis for all things Borderlands TPS but it gives us a general idea how these weapons fair against a large target boss.
My favorite and best performing Rocket Launchers from best to worst in my testings were as follows:
Heap’d Badaboom - powerful on its own and requires no start up glitching to perform well - 16 sec kill
Rugged Vanquisher - naturally fast traveling rockets, comes in all elements and glitches - 11 sec kill
Dippity Duuurp! - slow kill time but powerful, easy to aim, and the glitches make this nice - 29 sec kill
Heap’d Launcher - this one took perfect glitches to do enough damage to take Eclipse down - 19 sec kill
Rugged Mongol - mostly only good against very large targets, comes in all elements - 14 sec kill
This is the build that was used and below are the videos of these tests for review.
Another thing that could be useful, especially for slow RLs like Torgue or Scav, especially if you’re not depending on a glitch: reload another gun to activate Hell’s and Quick shot, then switch to your launcher. If you activated your kill skills at the same time, FnY will boost your swap speed.
Also unless facing a big boss with a Known weakness, (or a Known Cryo resistance) Cryo launchers may be great too, especially with the chronicler COM. Launchers already have quite high elemental chances, and the COM will boost both base damage and Tombstone.
Edit: last thing for now:
That earlier example about Tediore Launchers got me thinking: a launcher that reloads fast, that loses nothing from prematurely reloading (the Chuck will simply deal more damage), that deals significantly more damage than a Vladof RL, while allowing you to cycle until you get a glitch… Might have potential…
I don’t have lot to add to this as the only launcher I’ve gotten so far that I would actually concider using is still a level over me, I’ll pop in later probably
I’m not big on launchers, but the more I play Nisha, the more I realize that she excels at a twin loadout: one part ammo efficient guns for mobbing, and another part “kid’s gloves off” for bosses. The Pitchfork is beyond awesome, but you can’t mob for more than 20 seconds with it. Same for Anarchists pistols or Quad shotguns… But against bosses, wow.
Launchers definitely have the potential to be that gun. What’s left is to figure out if one or some of them show markedly better results than your average RL so that a RL section in the Top Gear would be relevant.
If some stick out, I’ll amend the Top Gear to include them.
If, however they are found to be mostly all good, what we need instead is a mention in the skill guide’s Tombstone entry about Launchers being good with Nisha because of the skill, but no more than that.
i would like to submit the nukem for testing. not the best for bosses, but for FFYL, all you need to do is point it up in the air towards the directions of your enemies and shoot. one shot usually gets me on my feet in mobbing, but with FFOB, you can fire it three times or so before you have to reload. so,pretty much spamming nukes when you cant trick shot the enemies to get back up.

The berrigan is more of less a Badaboom with a delay on all of its shots, you get the same 6 rockets but it’s in a 3 round burst and all the rockets do less damage. There’s also a wierd hard stall between bursts that you cannot fix so you cannot fire it really fast. I mean try it but I can’t expect too much from it.
Good work, I find it quite odd that the Vanquisher did better in this test when you mention it being worse than a duurp in another test, maybe comparing full damage vanquisher to reload utility duurp. I almost want to say its kinda obvious that the kill time was lower you’re applying a 0.8 multiplier to one of the lowest damage Duurps (You also wouldn’t use a reload Duurp for Nisha cuz FFOB makes it so you’re only reloading the thing twice in a full ammo supply [this was also a slight oversight on the Badaboom and Launcher that I recommended, mb]). It’s impressive that even WITH those limitations it has a competitive time with launchers with elemental advantages.
Looking at some of the pictures there weren’t ideally parted launchers in the case of the vanquisher duurp and mongol. You have a lot of FR Parts on the Vanquisher and Mongol which admittedly are ideal parts for speed kills (except you’d have a tediore sight, and I mean you wouldn’t run FR in general its unfair to other launchers that were perfectly parted for general combat or the duurp that was more or less dis-serviced by a lot of torgue parts to be timed in a speed kill vs launchers with vladof parts)
I often find the mongol to be underrated in its ability to mob and against medium targets, with Claptrap all you have to do is double jump and aim downwards and you can easily raze most of the ground with rockets.
Though the Berrigan has the advantage of delay between hits: if you use a Cryo one, and the first shot freezes, the following ones will get the crit bonus from Cryo. The Badaboom has to actually shoot twice to get that. Also, the Berrigan doesn’t have the wide spread of the Badaboom, so it’s actually more damaging against a small target.
The best mobbing test is almost always gonna be cluster pandora, guaranteed 3 badass trojans, 1-3 minute clear, easily resetable in the case that you get a Badass Psycho or Bandit in the first wave.
