Ward + High Cap Shield + Leg Siren COM sound bug / glitch?

I am not sure if this has been asked or addressed. I noticed when taking Ward and using a Legendary Siren COM, having a High Capacity shield equipped will sometimes result in a constant beeping sound once the shield is fully charged. I have attempted to find out exactly how many points are required in Ward for this to occur, but have not been successful; mainly because the issue doesn’t always start immediately after speccing into Ward, equipping a Legendary Siren COM and a High Capacity Shield. I have noticed it mainly when equipping an OP8 Antagonist or OP8 Blockade (~1.9 million capacity). The constant beeping goes away if I switch to a lower capacity shield like The Bee or Hide of Terramorphous (even with 10/5 Ward). However with a High Capacity Shield this beeping continues when you fast travel and even if you save and quit, exit the game completely, re-start BL2 and load your game save.

The only temporary solution seems to be to respec your character’s skill points. While doable this is less than ideal, since the sound bug / glitch can pop-up again at any time. Admittedly, it usually doesn’t start again until fast traveling somewhere or saving / quitting and re-loading a game save. I understand is is unlikely to be fixed via a Patch (at this point) but wonder if anyone else (on any supported platform) has noticed this issue? FYI, I play BL2 on Xbox 360.

It is a very old bug, across all platforms, and it’s affected numerous characters (probably most of them). It’s a result of some curious collision in shield recharge and capacity stats resulting from both the base shield stats, your skill points, relic, and BAR stats. As far as I can figure, it’s the result of a rounding error that, depending on precise numbers, leads to a full shield constantly recharging itself and letting you know that it’s now ready for action. Rather than respeccing your skill points, you could try turning your BAR perks off, or farming some more points and putting them into a different shield stat.

I suppose I will just have to deal with this issue when it arises. I would rather not disable my BAR, since doing so would impact other things in addition to impacting shield stats. My Siren is OP8, so farming additional skill points obviously isn’t an option. I tend to spec 4-5 points each into both Ward and Inertia. Ward isn’t that useful with the Capacity of a very High Cap shield, since Ward itself is capped and won’t actually provide a full +50% Shield boost with all Shields.

However, it does help with The Bee both for increased capacity and decreased recharge delay. Inertia also helps to override the relatively long recharge delay of The Bee. I was helping someone with the OP levels at DP the other night, and my stupid OP8 Antagonist shield wouldn’t stop beeping indicating it was fully charged.

Sorry, should have been clearer - farm more BAR points. Shouldn’t take too many to push your shield capacity up a little more (unless you are an ultimate super badass!)

I am not sure if farming more BAR points would really be worth it at this point. However, I will load the various game modes for my characters just to see what challenges remain and tackle the easier ones. My BAR is about 38K and all bonuses (except melee dmg) are at almost 12%. I haven’t put any BAR points into increasing melee dmg. I have an OP8 Siren, a level 72 Mecromancer (who got powerleveled and just started UVHM), a level 58 Commando (almost 1/2 way thru UVHM) and a level 10 Assassin (used mainly for storing items).

I don’t know if I could realistically farm enough BAR points to offset the bonus Ward would give to non-high Capacity Shields (like The Bee). I would likely have to see what DLC I have yet to play in each mode on each character. Even if I did manage to farm more BAR points, Ward also helps substantially with both the Recharge Delay (as does Inertia to some extent) and Capacity of low - mid Capacity Shields (like The Bee). Granted, I don’t rely on The Bee but the bonuses from Ward and Inertia are especially good for that Shield given its low Capacity and high Recharge Delay.

At least the annoying beeping (indicating the shield is fully charged) doesn’t always happen. I just wish GBX would have addressed this by now, along with things like fixing Boll so he actually can drop the Fastball Grenade.

Sounds like you may be in a position to prestige at least one of your characters, which means farming BAR points would be much easier. The other thing you could do is simply start a new character - BAR points come pretty easily for a new character when they’re getting the stats boost from the ones that have gone before.

I agree it would be better if the problem was simply fixed, however! (And especially Boll, since he was already supposed to be fixed once…)

Yup second time I have got this now also, except with Axton and Preparation skill beeping. Just a normal Ainshin shield.

And a most impressive necro it is! But yes, same bug on Axton, pretty much since launch of the game, just as annoying and with the exact same fixes.

Closing now since this is the Maya section and after 4 years threads start to smell a little musty…
