Borderlands-themed Video Desktop Wallpapers

Do you want something like an animated desktop background which shows e.g. rotating Elpis (Pandora’s moon where BL:TPS takes place)?

I made two versions of this one because Windows plays the videos with the wrong color space and therefore the videos are brighter than intended. Use whichever you like best.

If so, you’ll need two things:

  1. Dreamscene
  2. one of the video files from above which will be the desktop
    background

Install instructions:

If you understand German language just watch the video above. Otherwise follow the instructions beneath.

  1. Download DreamScene and at least one of the videos.
  2. Extract DreamScene Activator.zip with a program like
    7zip anywhere you want.
    Right-click on DreamScene Activator.exe, Properties,
Compatability tab, check Run as Administrator and hit
    OK.
  3. Run DreamScene Activator.exe.
  4. Click the slider. Wait until it says ON.
  5. Right-click on dreamscene_elpis.wmv (or the one you’ve downloaded) file or any video in
WMV/MPG format and select Set as Desktop Background.
  6. If you run this app for the first time then restart your PC. Now the
video that you selected will be set as the desktop wallpaper.

Troubleshooting:

If you encounter transparent text beneath your icons on the desktop you could try the following:

  1. Make hidden files and folders visible
    (instructions).
  2. Right-click on your desktop, Personalize, Desktop
    Background
(at the bottom), under Picture Location you
should see Windows DreamScene and two small pictures should
show up. Click on both of them and Save Changes.

Now the text on the desktop should be perfectly visible again.

If this issue persists (reappears after restart) you can try the following:

  1. Open Windows Explorer.
  2. Go to [your personal folder]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows
    DreamScene
. There you should be two picture files. Mark both of
them. Right-click on them, choose Properties, uncheck
Hidden, check Read-only and hit OK.
  3. Right-click on your desktop, Personalize, Desktop
    Background
(at the bottom), under Picture Location you
should see Windows DreamScene and two small pictures should
show up. Click on both of them and Save Changes.

I hope you like it. Cheers!

@DankRafft- these are sick! Not sure how I only just noticed these! I skimmed over the instructions and didn’t see for sure, but there any versions available for Mac? Cause if so, I’m jumping on board this ASAP!

Passing along to the team too, btw.

Thanks man. I don’t know if there’s something similar to Dreamscene on Mac OS. Sorry.
