I’m a PC gamer first, but I occasionally use consoles to play Borderlands and other games that I really like. I recently picked up a used Xbox One X because I was fixating on console tech, and it was a pretty good deal. Regarding the first 3 installments of Borderlands, my opinion is that the Xbox One X is the definitive console experience.
You can find a used Xbox One X for as low as 200$ (not including the controller), and for that price you get 4k 60fps on Borderlands 1 enhanced, and the handsome collection running UHD textures. From the perspective of a PC gamer, the power to price ratio is insane. Coming from a PS4 running the same games almost feels like the jump from a PS3 to a PS4.
The downside of this system is it’s design philosophy of 4k no matter what. This means there are many games that will be taken down to 30fps to reach 4k. Though borderlands does suffer a bit having more frame drops than the PS4 version, the drops are not very common on a reasonable FOV setting. You’re still getting a smooth 60fps the majority of the time.
If you’re really into borderlands and generally play on a console, I’d recommend it. It’s an insane value right now, as there’s never been a time when such a new/capable console has been made to be viewed as obsolete. It just makes Borderlands look great.
