I was running into issues with my previous build using all red and blue trees with a splatter of green and purple. Since the introduction of the Bladed Fury, I’ve been adjusting my builds to focus on using the new AR in place of the top-tier Plasma Coil. I finally managed to get within 2 seconds of my fastest Plasma Coil run using the Bladed Fury and my new melee/gun build.
I do not use under-leveled gear, nor would I. I see that as abusing the system in already super easy game. Since using glitches and under-leveled gear/items isn’t needed in BL3, I do not feel that type of gear should be used in any type of speed runs. Anyway, that’s just how I play. To each their own. That being said, I feel like I can get this time down to under 6 minutes. It will happen, and I can now say that confidently.
I guess he is referring to, say, a low level Revolter that one could not slap a ASS anoint on because of a terror anoint that is needed. And a low level Revolter would break more easily and thus mimick a ASS anoint.
There are other possibilities, too, with under leveled gear.

Like a low lever Brawler shield that virtually remains broken… so you get the 300% damage nearly 100% of the time. Things like that… and the Revolter, too. Same thing, different shield.
But, now that I think about it… You can technically get a legit lower level shield. What I’m referring to is using gear that you could almost certainly never legitimately acquire in-game… Like a level 1 Brawler shiled.
I forget, does ASS work on the Brawler shield? That’s what I’m running with. I’d be interested in seeing the correct video once uploaded.
Here’s the build I use that’s based off of Moxsy’s build. Blade Fury Build (need to double check that this is in fact my current build).
Though I’ve been using a x14 Face-Puncher which procs the hell out of Body and Mind. The anointed Blade Fury I recently rolled has a slow fire rate (click per shot, not automatic) but is a x4 and can mow through enemies.

Here’s an under 7 minute one while work to get my timing right again…
I’ve tried a similar combination with Moxie’s build… But I get more out my current setup. As for ASS on the Brawler shield… I don’t know. I’m more interested in what can be up 100% of the time… or close to it. So when I do get all my stacks and anointments, passives, etc., to all work at the same time, I can go through most anything with ease. The only thing I can’t kill within a few minutes is the stupid True Trial bosses… I can easily kill them, but it usually takes 5-10 minutes. That little switch adds no difficulty to the game… just annoyance and avoidance.
This is great. I should totally try out urad in my build sometime.
I got 5:48 on my third run of the True Maliwan Takedown (my second run was 5:28, but I was fakegrasping to activate my Driver which is not allowed) using a Facepuncher, Driver mod, Elemental Projector Static Charge, and a low level Revolter I got by joining a friend’s low level game and using my lost loot machine. Honestly, it’d work just as well using an ASS anoint and using 2 Facepunchers, one to apply terror, and the other with terror cryo (I’m an all-in terror build with terror cryo, terror damage+fire rate, and terror generate on melee). No ASS anoint on the shield frees it up to have terror ammo regen or damage+fire rate, but like I said, 2 Facepunchers solves that issue. The damage+fire rate, terror cryo anoints, and revolter buff get applied to Body and Mind, making the novas deal even more damage (hence why I’m on Facepuncher, since it gives 28 BaM triggers).
To kill True Trials Hag of Fervor, I just switch to an Elemental Projector White Elephant and hold a Guardian Angel in my hand, then chuck a few fish slaps until a bomb gets stuck to her and deletes her health bar. Unleash the Dragon would also work, but it’s not allowed a lot of the time.
This is a great build, and the run was great too. Bravo, sir.

I despise the driver COM… So I won’t use it. Plus, I stay away from using low level gear… It just feels like I’m using an exploit rather than what was intended in the game. So, for pure speed runs, I think there has to be conditions on which it counts. I get why you use the combos you do, though. But I am glad there is another melee shooter in the game now. The facepuncher just doesn’t suit my style, for some reason. And terror just makes me nauseated…lol… But that is something I could pursue now that it’s available all the time.
Saying all that, here’s my latest build, which seems faster, especially if I go all-in on the Plasma Coil as opposed to the Bladed Fury… it’s really a trade-off of nearly equal outcomes, though.
And here’s my fastest run, to date, on any build I’ve had… would have been sub 6, too… If my Wotan kill was faster…

Here’s my first sub 6 minute run with any Amara build I’ve used. The combination of using a Plasma Coil with a pure Melee build focused on splash damage gives me unbelievably quick enemy kills. With the ability to use TTB in combination with a Death’s Blessing COM and Deathless artifact, the quick fire rate of the Plasma Coil, AND the massive boost the Fish Slap gives in the battlefield, I’ve accomplished something I’ve been trying to do since level 65… A true sub 6 minute run with a deathless/urad build. I managed to do it three times prior… with my very first attempt coming in around 5:45. I was so stoked… But when I checked my captures folder, it recorded the wrong screen. I rage quit and came back a while later. Same thing happened. Ran a 5:56 run… Recorded the wrong screen… AGAIN… HF I was pissed. Took a time out. Smoked a huge bong… Then tried again. The below video is what you get in my last run:

Here’s my fastest True Maliwan Takedown run to date… I’m using my finalized Deathless Fury Build with a Plasma Coil. I can get sub 6 minutes with a Blade Fury, but nothing beats the Plasma Coil with this build for speed runs.
