Pyroburst Deals a Billion Damage Easily | Level 72 Moze Build

Heya Buddies, Since the New Vault Card recently being released I, like many, Immediately farmed keys to get them all ASAP but today I would like to focus on the New Pyroburst Grenade and try to optimize the damage as much as possible. Right off the bat the damage the Pyroburst does is honestly meh and it quickly gain infamy for killing its user so I knew it would be a perfect candidate for the next addition for: Meme or Meta?

Main Objective: As stated briefly before, the main objective of Meme or Meta? Is to take a piece of gear that Is generally seen as okay or down right terrible and try to go all in and optimize the loot to attempt to deal as much damage as possible from that item to hopefully make it a Meta contender. To do this we will need to find what Vault Hunter will be able to deal the most damage as possible with the Pyroburst. The best Vault Hunter for grenade damage is usually Fl4k or Moze and after testing for about 5 hours on fl4k the grenade was too unreliable; Sometimes Rakk Attack would hit while peregrine was equipped and the grenade wouldn’t be tossed out or perhaps it was tossed out but didn’t work properly because I wouldn’t see any fireworks sometimes. Sadly giving up Fl4k we turned to Moze but with a bit of fear because of her insane splash radius. Funnily enough this wasn’t really a problem in the end due to me just building the skill tree a little counter intuitive. (I’m aware of the Iron Bear Trick to use this grenade with on hit anointment while also taking no damage but the purpose for this is to find how much we can optimize one piece of loot to gain the most optimized damage)

Quick Fix for Splash Radius Problem: Every Moze main generally sees this as a suicide grenade but as mentioned before you just have to build the tree a little weird. The optimized Moze builds usually uses Torque Cross Promotion which increases our splash damage and has a chance to double our radius, this skill point is often picked because of how invaluable splash damage multipliers are in the game; Especially for Moze. So it might seem bizarre to hear that to not down yourself as often you just have to make sure to put no points into this skill tree. It’s a simple as that, sure the damage suffers a little bit but we are able to actually use the grenade without some kind of safe guard with iron bear which opens up the build to gain even more damage by freeing the anointment slot on the grenade normally used for the on hit throw out anointment.

Main Gear: Pyroburst w/ anointment: (While Action Skill Active, Grenade damage increased by 150%.) We use this anointment in combination with Iron cub to increase our total damage, I’ll get into more synergy with Iron cub down below. Guardian Angel w/ Urad anointment. I know guardian angel has infamy in the community but its allows gimmicky builds like this to thrive. To Proc our Urad we are of course using a Deathless Artifact with Elemental Projector Variant, Secondary Stats are Incendiary damage, grenade damage & area of effect damage. Now I couldn’t get an elemental projector deathless with area of effect on the first line so unfortunately we do get a bit of splash radius since area of effect secondary stat gives splash radius when on the second or third line. If you were to get downed from the grenade that would apply a dot to increase your damage as well which makes a potential con into a pro. We also have a Sellout pistol to proc our elemental projector if you want the extra damage on demand for certain fights. Mind Sweeper with 5 points into fire in the skag den & Splash damage secondary stat, I couldn’t find one with grenade damage as well but look for that if you are trying to get one for this build. Finally, we are using a Re-Volter w/ Action skill activate anointment to boost our damage on demand.

Iron Cub w/ Re-Volter The way I use Iron Cub to effectively gain Re-Volter at all times is to make sure to put no points into Fuel/Fuel reduction so he goes on cooldown as soon as possible. I used Railguns since the fuel consumption is largish but offers decent damage as well if needed. I was suggested that a better option would be the Nukes since it would down the cub and put him on cooldown faster but that would render our Action skill active bonus grenade damage useless so I believe Railguns are still a better option. Because of this and multiple points into cooldown reduction we are able to get him back either before Re-Volter ends or a few seconds after Re-volter ends effectively gaining it with 100% uptime. Also whenever the Cub goes on cooldown we gain bonus damage from big surplus which our only points into the purple tree on this build.

How Much Damage? Its very common to see numbers around 10M+ on this build because of all the active effects we have. Of course this damage increases based on Mind sweeper procs but whenever the Mind sweeper procs it gains a decent amount of our active effects which leads to Numbers getting around the 100-500M range. Because of the sheer amount of grenades that spawn and we have max points into Pull the Holy Pin to grant the highest chance of the grenade proccing our Mind sweeper we see the Class Mod activating very often and because of this its not uncommon for the class mod to activate on top of itself which leads to a billion damage quickly and often.

All that’s left is to determine if the Pyroburst is Meme or Meta and despite the grenade not doing well on any Vault Hunter besides Moze I would consider it to be a Meta piece of loot. The reason for that is I see some pieces of gear seen as Meta due to its ability with a certain Vault Hunter, there is some weapons that are seen as meta guns that are only good on Fl4k. For example: Kings Call Pre Nerf, this gun was often seen as high tier despite the gun being only excellent on Fl4k for the most part. Of course you could deal a ton of damage with other characters with it but Fl4k was the only one that made it shine. Basically what I’m getting at is that Is that since Moze can use this grenade so effectively I don’t see any reason to rank it any lower since we’ve determined an Item’s effectiveness based on certain characters sometimes. But what you guys think, should this item be left in the trash or do you think it was judged a little too harshly.
