Trying to make a Zane build with Torgue weapons, and I just want to know if the projectile speed is worth looking into. Weapons like the moonfire and critical thug do very well with this, while other weapons like the R.Y.N.A.H. and Plaugebearers not so much as they will travel much farther from the intended mobs I’m attempting to hit. Would really like some input on this matter.
I’ve tested a few Torgue centric builds on Moze using the projectile perk with the Lob, Harold,Redline
It definitely makes the Lob a beast and makes a few weapons shine when compared to the same one without the added perk as far as Rocket launchers maybe the Nukem,Quadomizer and the Hive might be worth testing.
@Noblechillz really? I’d figure the increased speed would make the lob less efficient, as the orb does tick damage as it passes through. I guess that means it should be worth looking at when it comes to that gun. And herald sound interesting, although i would think the projectiles would split at a farther distance, no?
And I’ve actually tried all 3 for Zane, and so far I like the Nukem the best out of all of them. Range i something to adjust to, but definitely a powerful launcher. I found that the hive and quadomizer wasnt doing enough for my liking
In my experience, Torgue projectile speed breaks the Plaguebearer. The main orb outruns the child projectiles and doesn’t allow it to spawn as many smaller shots.
Best roll you can get for a Plaguebearer is “weapon charge speed”, turns the launcher into an absolute engine of destruction, you can shoot it so fast, it’s ridiculous
I like Torgue Proj speed with a lot of guns but the are some where it doesnt do much at all and others that get worse by using TPS.
From my experience:
Best - Critical Thug, Shocker, Devestator, Tiggs Boom, Devils Foursum (pushes the impact point further out in front of you making it safer to use)
Good - guns with dodgeable projectiles. Loveable Rogue, Contained Blast, Echo, Alchemist etc.
Doesn’t seem to do much of anything for Flakker, Laser Sploder, Blister
Get additional range with Nukem and La Varlope but can make aiming more difficult
Bad - anything with slow blobby projectiles that do multiple hits while passing near/through enemies. Lump, Scourge. Unsure if Lob falls in that category but possibly. Also Bearcat becomes difficult to use since the grenades will ping-pong off surfaces and rarely end up near target.
@ucfmatt this was honestly a really helpful list. Helped me figure out what guns work best after trying them out, so thank you. The only thing I’ll add is that the lob actually plays well with the projectile speed, but that’s just probably due to Violent Momentum and all the splash bonuses as well.
I don’t know how good it is in general on zane (ymmv; it’s great for a gamma fl4k setup), but the nukem with tps is fun as hell and turns you into a military grade mortar; i did a lot of trial of cunning with it, and you can pretty much fire across any area there.
Aiming isn’t easy, but that’s why you brought a nukem in the first place I’d wager
