How else can you mow down the entire Carnivora building with some 30 badasses/annoited/loot tinks in your way to the Agonizer 9000 and get nothing more than purples? On Mayhem 10? Thats the only reason I put up with its bullet sponging mechanics, loot quality. Are we playing now to 2500% of barely anything to be able to get barely something?
This already was a recurring issue on DLC’s, so are their rates even worse now? Only Amach from DLC2 drops (dropped?) it’s dedicated gear regularly, with any other DLC boss or named enemy I’m lucky to get their drops in the first 10 tries.
Don’t tell me that this was made to counterbalance the fact that we can roll annointments, it’s not exactly free to roll at will, is it?
Apart from the COV Slaughter, I’ve never seen that beeing the case. And going from uncommon to pretty much non existing is still a long road. If 2500% of pretty much nothing is still pretty much nothing, what’s the point of Mayhem mode?
In case Gearbox has forgotten, Mayhem 2.0 is not the default playing mode on Borderlands, it was always a endgame high risk/slog high reward mode that now has severely cut the reward, but the risk/slog remains.
So one of the most fun activities people did, like farming Bosses did just lose their meaning. What is good about that?
Adding one endgame content and remove another? That is a zero sum.
I do not know what the intention was behind that but what people are going to do instead of having fun farming and playing is just duplicate or download builds with weapons and tons of iridium, roll their favorite anoints - and then run over bandits with cars to get daily challenge XP. Well, until that becomes a chore and then what? Why do Takedowns anymore? Why risk anything?
This really reduces the gameplay value practically over night to a minimum.
Farming legendaries was what kept me playing. Farming Eridium is just not the same and the game experience of buying something in game is nothing that will keep people going on for long.
We do not have to farm for anoints anymore why didn’t they leave us the fun to farm for stat rolls?
That just isn’t worth the game time anymore.
All of this sound good, and I would agree 100 percent, if we were talking about base game, which Mayhem mode isn’t, as much as Gearbox and the playerbase nowadays think it is.
Now Gearbox pretty much just nerfed Mayhem, an optional endgame mode, by slashing the reward and keeping the risk on a mode that wasn’t very attractive from the start. All that bullet fest for very little reward sounds idiotic to me now.
i think they over did it
and have to go back
its as i thought, they entirely went overboard and hammered everything into the dirt to make the new maurice vendor and dlc 6 diamon keys more apealing. no other reason why
I just want to vent about the world drop rate changes that were done in an attempt to “balance” the new reroll machine.
This is a classic example of my pet theory in action viz. “Game designers in general hate people who just want to play their game”.
Just about every loot based game I have ever played has always ended up in this position. People who don’t like the endless repetition that farming necessitates, who instead just like to play the game naturally (such as replaying the story), get screwed. Game designers end up locking the most desirable loot behind either eye-bleedingly-difficult fights or mind-numbingly-boring farming runs - sometimes both at once.
Now in BL3, the only way to get any chance at a decent anointment is to farm your ring off - either bosses for the weapon you want, or ludicrous amounts of eridium to maybe get the anointment you want.
If they get too many complaints it was an excessive nerf, then they’ll adjust it a bit in a new patch next week or a few weeks later.
Do world drops really matter that much? You can get virtually every legendary from a dedicated source and those drop rates don’t change. More importantly, 90% of the best gear comes from exclusive drops (Monarch, Sand Hawk, etc.).
I’m not upset about seeing fewer Malak’s Banes and Woodblockers on the ground.
World drop legendary rate was really high, probably to give you a better shot at the perfect gear with the perfect annointment. It mighr be a tad too low now. It will probably need a bit of adjustment down the line.
