I am using a Spiritual Driver Class Mod + Mindfulness skill. Before the patch, I always use fakegrasp to proc self dot and gain 25 stacks of Mindfulness. After patch, I can only get 15 stacks of Mindfulness with fakegrasp self dot.
However, if I cast phaseslam or phasecast, my self dot proc will hit 25 stacks. Whats the deal?
Fakegrasping no longer triggers ASE anointments, and you need the ASE anointments to get 25 stacks rather than 15. Phaseslam, Phasecast, or a successful Phasegrasp will trigger ASE anointments.
From the patch notes:
Dev Note: As part of updating Anointments to support the new trees, we’ve also changed them to not activate on missed activations. The Siren can no longer “Fakegrasp” to activate Anointments, and the Beastmaster can no longer Gamma Burst while looking at the sky to trigger Anointments. We are monitoring how these changes affect these characters and their builds and are looking to adjust as necessary in the future. Our goal is to make sure that no Vault Hunter has an unfair advantage related to Anointments activating.
I see. Thanks. But i still don’t get why ASE anointments has got to do with mindfulness stack in the first place. ASE anointment element damage contributes to the self proc dot dmg?
I think there’s a cap on how many stacks a single source of damage can trigger. The self-dot from the action skill is capped at 15. When you have an ASE anointment the Spiritual Driver triggers both the self-dot from the action skill and the bonus elemental damage which adds an extra 10 stacks.
Basically they want to encourage actually using your AS in combat rather than just whiffing it as a tool to increase your damage. Honestly, that they still let us get 15 stacks by missing it the once is still a big deal, that means we’re quicker to get to 25 when we actually hit something.
Also with all the sources of cooldown that exist now, actually using Amara’s AS consistently in combat has been getting better. Only thing we really lose is pre-stacking to try and one-shot bosses.
