Fl4k's 4th Skill Tree Thoughts

Now that the entirety of the 4th tree is known, what are your thoughts on it as a whole?

If I 'm being honest, I don’t particularly like it. Overall I see a lot of redundant skills. Survival was “an issue” I guess for some builds, but it seems they went a bit overboard with the shield buffs. Not even Moze’s shield tree went so deep into one direction.
I can as easily use a Stop Gap with ASS anointment, if survival is that dire, and save so many skill points.

The Bots bonuses are also nothing new, just snatched from previous pets and that bugs me. I’m sure there were other stats that could have been chosen instead of doubling up on another pet’s bonuses. My OCD doesn’t particularly likes that they gave it 1 bonus instead of 2 like every other pet.

Action Skill is nice and 2-3 skills are pretty interesting looking. Yet I don’t see much incentive to get the tree. It’s going to be annoying if my friends get the DLC (for the game mode) and I’m forced to get it in order to play with them and have a sad, sad, tree to look at.

I really like the AS duration and the pet and their damage/crit skills, but the capstone… sounds very ineffective and redundant.

I don’t see the purpose of half of the shield skills when fuzzy math exists. Also, there are much more consistent pet survival skills that don’t require that much investment.

Yeah. The skill to allow pets’ attacks to Crit are nice, along with the Pet Crits allowing you to have bonus weapon dmg. Yet those 2 skills, along with the one that gives your pet a copy of your shield, are probably the only 3 skills that are kinda cool and provide for interesting builds.

Fuzzy Math seems a bit overpowered as is, and could either be super broken and need of a nerf or ineffective if it gets an internal cooldown for its effects.

I think they should have gone more deeply into giving shields abilities that it wouldn’t normally have. I like the added Novas as an idea, hopefully it will get Shield scaling. But I think they could have worked on that premise and given shields Spike damage, DoT damage, Immunities, Amp damage, etc. Turning a shield into another type of shield could have been interesting.

thankfully, it already does from the videos I’ve seen. its not long enough to make the shield regen skill matter though- maybe itd be nice to pick it up levelling? maybe??

that was something i really liked about TPS, would be nice to see but i dont wanna get into the nitty gritty of design lol

It seems meh and definitely more effort was put into Amara’s skill tree but, when you are the favorite its unsurprising to get better treatment. Also Im gonna assume any thing that buffs pets ain’t gonna do much because they need more then a number increase to make pets better most definitely need a rework imo.

Honestly I might be most excited by 40% Reload Speed at Tier 1. Should have just replaced Second Intention though.

I think there’s a lot of potential with the bots but they just seem so unbalanced compared to the rest of the pets.

Outside of maybe 1 or 2 effects I don’t see a lot of interesting cross tree synergy with the Stalker and Hunter trees. I don’t think Trapper is going to be bad but it all just seems…clunky?

Am I the only one wondering if the 30% elemental resistance Fl4k gets from the ION loader bot would be able to scale to 90% with Barbaric Yawp and even above 100% with the right class mod?

Other then that I agree 100% that the tree is pretty lackluster. Fl4k did need some survival I guess, but to me it seems you lose to much dmg going down the new tree.

Tree seems very lackluster especially since enemies get Mayhem 10 scaling and they just rip through your Shields even with the new skill tree. Not to mention the fact that you lose so much damage it doesn’t become worth it.

Wouldn’t it be 150% with a +5 BY Friend-Bot mod?
60% Fire-rate for the WAR Loader
+100% Shield Capacity with the Bul Loader

Yes exactly, I am just wondering if you can get above 100% elemental resistance wouldn’t you be set for survival? Its not even a specific element, you would be immune to elemental damage? Am I missing something?

I’d assume it’s the weaker kind of resistance where 100% is effectively halved damage.

I highly doubt Im sure there is some sort of cap or dimishing returns.

I guess it is cool to do a 100% loader build (video posted only showed vanilla content but loaders seem fairly powerful), and also a grenade build with the Fl4k grenade copy thrown by warloader

For the sake of discussion, how would you improve the skills in this tree to make them more enticing for you?

I would like to see either a little bit more damage or a little more survivability a lot of the shield skills in this tree seems very redundant. And it seems like you give way too much damage in return for a tiny bit more survivability also I would like to see the Capstone increase Shields more than 50% if they keep Mayhem 10 enemy scaling

First of the 3 augment for the new ability where you throw it out when you get downed, that is pretty bad and I would remake that to something with more damage. Maybe you deal increased damage to enemies affected by the trap.

Other then that remove some of the shield talents and replace them with dmg buff, maybe something that scales from your shield in some way, to keep it in line with the theme.

And lastly maybe add damage to fl4k on all the talents that increase your pets damage?
