As title says. It is pretty easy to test for anyone as well. Go to the Droughts at Mayhem 10 kill a lil’skag look at the experience gained, go into Iron Bear, exit, kill another lil’skag and compare experience. M0 experience is effectively a third of the experience you earn at M10, but doing the above in M10 resets your experience and money gains to M0 difficulty rewards… This issue may even be affecting eridum and loot bonuses too, but that’s not easy to test given the variability due to RNG, and concurrent events.

This happens after entering ffyl as well. As far as I can tell, it doesn’t affect the loot bonus but does reduce xp and money bonuses to base rates.
I was wondering why the loot looked awful when killing bosses… finally killed empowered scholar and all I got was an impaler shield that looked M0 and two blue tediore pistols… I play on M10, I was hopping in and out of IB for some for the road when ammo was low…
Looks like it’s keeping my M10 modifiers, not sure if that’s a bug or not but I can’t seem to get any gear that is M10 now… Even tried restarting , will see if re-rolling my modifiers will help. Hard part is that I’m a little sloppy and hit F when trying to hit G for my nades… oops there goes IB again!
This brings up a very interesting question: Is loot level and quality linked to the player level or the map level? Because if it was linked to whatever the map level was (assuming that Mayhem levels are literally levels in this case), then Iron Bear should not affect those statistics. But then it has to be asked why on earth is a “secondary entity” as I call them (Iron Bear, Drone, Clone, Pets), relevant to loot at all? Is Iron Bear considered a player in some way? And why does that effect stick around? Does something similar happen when other “secondary entities” are used (I can say that pets at least seem to not have any negative effects)? It’s very, very weird.
On the bright side: This might force Gearbox to let Iron Bear scale to Mayhem 10. But first this has to be brought to their attention. It would be best to submit a support ticket for this.
Mayhem lvl on gear is a hidden anointment that doesn’t show on the item card. I’m guessing it uses player mayhem level to drop so that’s why Iron Bear doesn’t drop mayhem scaled gear. IB completely replaces Moze and has its own damage calculations, hud etc. and doesn’t take mayhem level into account.
Ok, I’ve reported this as a bug, but from what I’m experiencing now I’m not certain if IB is the problem. Why I say that is that I’ve restarted my game changed mayhem levels down and back, re-rolled my modifiers and completely removed my opportunity to fat finger an IB by remapping that key and I’m still getting crap drops from bosses like mega mind and Katagawa jr on M10 during loot the world event on Promethea. 40 runs in with Kata and best legendary I got was the storm sniper. Not a great sample size but this during an event, I should see one Sandhawk.
Does this ever wear off?

I can’t say for sure but it looks like IB being the issue is fixed or not the issue… not sure which.
Loot is dropping fast and furious for me in the Anvil but I’m not really needing IB right now to make sure.
yep, fixed, just gave it a try. same run, M5, no luck bonuses.
no bear - 28 legs - 23 annoints (crappy ones)
bear - 34 legs - 29 annoints (5% less crappy)
worth mentioning the run was the Anvyl, which has the ongoing legendary event. But interestingly enough, i got a few more killing with iron bear.
side note: M5 anvyl bear-only is horrible even with a total of 180% damage bonus. Ughhhh…
