They have to know that people love opening chests at this point. Gearbox knows by successful prior content that players are happy when they are opening chests.
Knoxx’s Farmory is a shining example of how a LOOTER shooter’s campaign spoils should be. Look at how many players loved the Rare Chest Riches event.
If they aren’t going to make them scale, I will be reassured that they have completely lost sight of what their playerbase enjoys. If they aren’t going to scale chests, take them out of the game.
We’ve had enough disappointment without having to open “chests” full of under leveled gear. If this is their plan why did they even update gear to not drop below your level in chests.
This is the only statement Gearbox has made on the subject as far as I know. Yet various people continue to regurgitate the assumption that it was intentional as though it is confirmed fact.
Agreed. This has to be an oversight. I can’t believe this would be on purpose or maybe if it was…they only wanted it to be this way at the start so people had to “earn” their gear first before farming chests.
In any event this is really stupid. GB knows for a fact that chests are how some players farm gear sometimes. It’s boring and probably only an effective strategy in certain locations but this has been a thing in all previous BL games. There were numerous “chest farm” locations in BL2 so why they be worried about chest farming in BL3 is beyond me.
Chests, definitely. It just makes no sense to drop Mayhem 2.0 on us, and within hours they tweet out shift codes for golden keys. And with red chests, they’re on a cooldown timer (when it’s not glitched heh) so in theory chest farm “abuse” can’t happen.
And vendors too! I can’t see a good reason why they’d want to put up a deterrent to buying blues and the occasional purple gun out of vending machines. Those guns aren’t gonna make M10 easy mode lol, but they can help get you by to farm for the legendaries you want (instead of just Yellowcaking everything). I’m praying it’s just an oversight or mistake.
