With the recent Moze buffs to RO and Redistribution, Sapper has become redundant. We know also there’s an obvious loss of dps using Sapper (doh).
I paid for the DLCs. I kinda think at least these coms should be worthy of my wallet. GM com was intially thought bad but it turned out good. Will Sapper be the same? I kinda think no.
That’s why I am thinking Sapper needs to be buffed or reworked:
12% lifesteal (retain the original identity)
25% chance to activate kill skills (max of 10 for Phalanx)
It would be great if the life-steal would count as extra damage done to the target which is then returned to the player. So if you do have 30 life steal your damage becomes x+30, that way it actually adds some damage while still healing you.

Sapper is weird because the skills are Iron Bank, Matched Set, and MoD. Two skills that help us make use of Redistribution and Forge, and MoD which gives back 1 ammo or grenade. The problem is to make real use of the skills we have to go all the way down to Forge anyway, so the increased mag size, while nice doesn’t help too much. Most of your small mag / high base damage guns are burst or single fire. So we can’t make a very small mag into a medium mag and actually use the healing.
The only way I can think to use Sapper is if we take a splash gun with medium mag and go half way down the green tree and red tree and get Short Fuse. Because the base damage of guns is so much higher now. Health steal is very strong. BUT because we just got RO with health steal, we could just use a COM that provides more damage and just sprint for 1 second and we already just out did the Sapper.
The drop chance for the legendary class mods from DLC 2 is currently bugged so that Fl4k gets Moze comms more often while Moze gets more Fl4k comms more often. If you have a Fl4k, then you’ll have a much easier time farming on them.
That sounds like a good idea. I have a 57 Fl4k but I never use him much (Always been a Moze fan).
Gives me an excuse to get another Pearl cause the 1st one had bad stats.
The Monarch works quite nice with Sapper. Together with Pearl artifact and getting dmg buffs by going full red tree the dmg output is quite nice. I have one with the “300% bonus dmg if enemy health is higher than 90%” anointment that rips even through badasses with triple health bar.
My next step would be to go after the Kaoson at the highest mayhem I can survive.
I’ve been doing great at M4 (Time to move up) but have been farming Tom and Xam at M6 using a M10 Sand Hawk.
Moze and farm the Sand Hawk at M10 easy with an OPQ System.
“Sapper friendly” weapons also work with GM as both GM and Sapper prefer weapons with large mags and high fire rare. But it’s hard to directly compare both COMs without their “surrounding” builds. One COM handles survivability, the other one supports the damage output. So it’s hard to tell which one is “better”.
you do realize the sapper is over 100% lifesteal right.
the new skill changes are nothing compared to that.
even without the comparison only the change to redistribution was somewhat meaningful as with bloodletter builds it works on both health and shields from what I’ve heard.
