So I’m a bit confused on the weapon scaling of items. When I got weapons at M6 and then used those weapons at M8 they were not ideal but were still fairly effective. However, when I use weapons I got from DLC2 at TVHM4 that were shredding things…they do almost no damage when I’m playing at M6. Same relative difference of 2 levels but night and day difference. If anything I would expect M4 to work better at M6 than M6 to work at M8.
Do I have to go refarm these items at M6 for them to work or are the weapons from DLC2 not scaling properly within the 2.0 system or what? I know people have said chest items are not scaling but is the same thing happening with regular drops as well? Anyone understand what is going on? I feel like this 2.0 has made everything convoluted and it feels very broken.
But is that a function of the guns dropping prior to the update or a function of the guns having some underlying limitation that prevents them from performing in the new 2.0 system? If I get them again at M6 will it be scaled better or will they still suck?
Think of weapon drops in mayhem 2.0 as overpower levels (dunno if you played BL2), i.e. a mayhem 10 gun is basically a “level 67” gun.
The overpower system didn’t exist before mayhem 2.0. This means that the arsenal you collected at M4 before april 23 consists of just level 57 guns. So yes, if you want them to do mayhem 4 damage, you have to get them at mayhem 4 (“level 61”) again.
PS: it appears that guns are not dropping on level in mayhem mode right now, and item cards don’t show what mayhem level a gun is. This means that if you play at, say, mayhem 4, you can get mayhem 4, 3, 2, 1, and 0 level guns, and the only way to tell which is which is to compare their damage. Keep this in mind.
PPS: Only drops appear to have mayhem levels. Guns found in chests, given as quest rewards, or received in the mail, are always mayhem 0 (level 57) guns at the moment.
PPPS: the new weapons appear to be just straight-up hyper strong, outperforming mostly everything that came before. That could also explain what you’re seeing.
Uhg. This update is really sapping the fun from the game for me. I’m not a fan of most of the mayhem modifiers. The entire scaling system including weapons, shields, action skills etc…feels completely broken. Moze can’t use new anointments because…well because Moze apparently.
I swear to god every game I like seems to get ruined by the very people who make the game. I just went through this with PUBG for the last 2 years and it feels like BL wants to go down the same path of nonsense. Blech.
Yeah, well I have gotten some guns again and if it’s not a new gun it just feels weak. I even got an M8 Krakatoa which is twice the damage of my M4 version and it still feels weak on M6. I have gotten some other guns at M6 that used to be considered strong but they just feel weak against M6 enemies. The only gun that feels like it does any damage (that I have) is this Nopewpew.
Sad that all the cool stuff from before 2.0 feels obsolete and worthless for such a small update with so few new weapons. I liked a lot of those weapons from DLC2 and they just feel terrible now.
Truest statement out there about BL3 atm. If you aren’t using new weapons you aren’t doing damage on mayhem 10. This is the worst state of balance the game has ever been in IMHO, and now there are almost no viable weapons in m10 that aren’t brand new barring the very few absolute ridiculous standouts like the lob/recursion/redistributor etc. Even my cutsman with 200 ASA won’t even tickle basic trash mobs on mayhem 10 for whatever stupid reason Very sad state right now…
I have been playing on Moze at M10 almost from the start. Got a good gun to drop at M6, went to M10 after checking the mods I felt good playing on and have never looked back. The event guns are a lot of fun and not all that hard to get. If you can down Katagawa Jr or Cap Traunt then get their new drops with CH anointments. I can kill almost any boss or mod with ease. Don’t get discouraged and figure out what works for you. Most YouTube’s are only half right and push only one way of doing things. This update feels more like bl2 did with regards to building characters to your play style and not a cookie cutter.
Trying to get a perfect one for my Amara but I’ve gotten a couple gunner anoints and I can’t wait to try them on here. Not the splash annoint yet that will be the peak.
What I have noticed is that, if you farmed for example your gear prior m2.0 at m4, they will have m0 damage.
So you need to refarm them again for that m4/6/8/10 boost
Except you are describing the exact problem I am referring to. Unless you get one of the new weapons…you can’t do any damage even if you are using a gun that was previously GREAT. It’s really good that the new guns are good but why do all other guns have to suck? What happened to the idea of build diversity? You can’t have diversity if everyone is required to use the same 6 guns.
If I farmed them at TVHM4…and I now farm them at say M6 will they really be that different? Like will they actually be good like they were before or just somewhat better than the absolute crap they ar now? Because it’s amazing how bad some of them are now even at only M6. Also, I have gotten some world drops of older guns and those don’t feel great either. I got an M8 Krakatoa with an amazing anoint and while it’s not bad…it’s nowhere near as strong as the pre-2.0 Krakatoa was.
