So just a random idea for a melee mod for Amara

So lately when I hear people talk about Amara it’s either they want a melee mod or Amara needs a rework on a melee tree or if you’re like me you probably said something similar like “an action skill that involves melee Amara similar to Krieg with his rampage.” While I was messing around on melee Amara today I thought of something pretty cool for her. (While I do not know if a melee mod is needed for her really. (Cause her melee setup is pretty nice so far in my opinion but I use it different and not entirely focused on it so others may not agree.)

It’s gonna be a short one but what if Amara’s melee mod made her obtain stacks of rush to gain melee damage? What if each single rush per stack gave her 100% or 200% damage per stack. I’m not exactly sure how much really she should gain or if I should add more on to it. Been thinking about it for awhile but not sure how it would all work. I mean it could work similar to phasezerker but what if she consumes all her stack she gains massive melee damage for 20 seconds after stacking it? The mod could also give a bonus of rush stacks as well maybe? Still thinking that over but that idea sounds cool. Of course this is just a random idea. Gonna let that sit for awhile while I think about more builds.

Just wanted to share I guess and see what others think of it.

Like the idea of tying Rush stacks to melee damage.

What if the mod specifically had Rush stacks increase the damage of Blitz attacks, so it’s a true melee com and not a “buffs the Face-Puncher” item?

Totally. That would be even better! Thought about the skills it should buff as well like maybe it would buff Find your center and Helping hands for more melee damage and damage reduction (survivablility since you’re always up close) not sure what third skill it would buff but yes I like that. NICE!

+4000% melee damage? Sign me up.

I think 200% per stack would probably be too high, but I like the concept. Yeah I know mayhem 10 has 125x enemy health, but melee will hopefully scale on its own as well.

I HOPE it would scale well. Would be ashamed if it didn’t. Oh my…just think of all the melee builds and slam and slide gains a bonus from melee I heard or something like that so that just makes things even better for me.

My suggestions for the skills:

Illuminated Fist
Restless
Laid Bare

Would play quite differently than the current Breaker-based melee/hybrid spec. This would have more slamming and more potential for large damage spikes against specific targets.

Breaker would become the COM for short-range hybrid playstyles and this COM would be the pure melee COM.

Illuminated Fist and Restless I understand. Curious why Laid Bare? Wouldn’t the skill Find your center be better as the third?

Laid Bare would increase damage against enemies hit by action skill (which is to say recently hit by your slam), who will be in melee range anyway.

I could see an argument for a defensive skill like Helping Hands for tankiness instead of Laid Bare, but I like the idea of the COM encouraging a slam —> punch the slammed enemies —> find another group —> slam… type rotation.

In that case Laid Bare would be a pretty good option. I’d be good with the other option of Helping hands as well. I’m so use to being tanky but if it means I get to deal a lot crazy melee damage and even more off of phaseslam. Even if Laid Bare is an 8 second buff I’d be curious to see how that plays out. Oh my…slamming to do massive damage with slam relics sounds…sounds deadly AND FUN!

The problem with rush stacks and melee is that you don’t apply many Dots so you don’t really build stacks. You could build stacks through kills but for bosses that wouldn’t work. It would also force you to go down mystical assault to get avatar so you either don’t get blitz or tempest+illuminated fist. Maybe if the com gave rush stacks for every melee hit it would work.

I don’t like the idea of fixing a broken build through a class mod since then you are forced to use that all the time and the breaker and driver become pointless. But a new melee class mod is always welcome.

The thing we need most atm is multiplicative melee bonuses and crits, melee amara should be able to hit damage cap like melee Zero with enough stacking multiplicative bonuses. If both blitz and find your center were separate multiplicative bonuses and melee scaled with mayhem level it would put us in a decent spot.

Side note: I think all skills in the game should scale to mayhem level instead of only just player level. (I heard most skills or action skills don’t scale to mayhem levels whether this is true or not I am confused to as of why it doesn’t. IT SHOULD!)

While I do understand what you mean. I did think about that being a problem but at first I was thinking well ever since the double level cap increase came in we can touch two capstones now. However even then we don’t have enough points to touch all those skills that would be nice and helpful for melee Amara. Gaining rush stacks on melee hits or kills could also work as well however having enough points to get the skills needed is the issue. Maybe a melee mod for Amara shouldn’t relate to rush stacks or maybe it can use an adjustment.

Thought about this as well
“why not make it so when Amara is surrounded she gains a massive amount of melee damage for about 2 minutes? There’s no cap on it either?” It can scale off the number of enemies are around her too if this is better. I haven’t finish on this thought cause I been busy with builds but like it sounds cool so far however might not be good enough.

THE DRAGON MOD I SEE LITTLE USE FOR AS WELL SOME OF HER OTHER MOD MENTIONS THAT I’LL SAVE FOR ANOTHER DAY
Maybe they could rework Amara’s only melee related mod. The dragon mod is just a bit off to me. The skills it boost just don’t make sense so they could rework the skills it should boost and become an actual melee mod for Amara. Maybe they could add something to it that makes your melee damage go up? Just another suggestion I thought of.
