So... How does the Mayhem gear thing work?

I was under the impression that the Gear Changes from Mayhem 2.0 would essentially work the same way as the OP levels in Borderlands 2. The Gear is still the same level but stronger. However, so far I have not come across any gear that had some kind of indicator that it would have some kind of Mayhem level nor have I found anything that seems to be dealing more damage than previously?
Is Mayhem leveled gear particularily rare or does it not work yet? And what exactly should I look out for?

Same here. I’m farming Gigamind on Mayhem 8 and I’m not seeing any difference in the loot that’s dropping.

I think it’s really just a higher damage output and unlike the OP system in BL2 the gear will work with any character at any MH level (meaning if your level 57 Siren findst a MH 6 gun your level 57 Gunner can use that gun in MH 6 gun in MH 2 so no need to state the level). I’d think that every item that drops is MH 6 is MH 6 level and so on.

They need to put some type of indicator on it. If I get a weapon on some mayhem level but forget which mayhem level I got it on, how do I know if I have the highest damage version of it or not? I’m going to end up wasting time farming a mayhem level that’s going to give me a lesser damage version of the weapon.

So far my opinion of Mayhem 2.0 is less than enthusiastic.

It is correct that mayhem guns simply do higher level gun damage. E.g. a regular lvl 57 Ion Cannon has 32113 base damage (without parts), a lvl 67 one would theoretically have 76024, and a lvl57 one found in M10 indeed has 76024.

I agree there should be some indication on the card that tells you which Mayhem level it is. It doesn’t even increase the item score.

Only checked this on gun damage so far, not looked at shield capacity etc. yet.
