Iron Bear Buffs 4/9/20 Discussion

What do you guys think? First impressions:

  1. Nukes are hilarious now. With IB fuel and fuel return maxed out I can only fire them 8 times but man its SO much better now. It’s hilarious and FUN to use . Better than explosive minigun or rocket pods ? Not quite but probably more entertaining

  2. Specialist Bear going from 25 to 60% … I was so excited by this and even though IB does hit harder… doesnt feel like a 35% increase to me… it also shouldn’t force you to use same hardpoints . Just make it a flat damage upgrade for all weapons

That being said … IBs main glaring issue is survivability . His armor amount is high but I think the issue is 100% of all enemy fire hits him. It’s a combination of him being so slow and so big that enemies do not miss and even rocking two explosive miniguns and 5 points in Vampyre I am almost always hanging on to dear life . It makes him more stressful to play more often than not. His durability is even worse than moze

Re: #2, it is very noticeable when using the railguns and on crits.

If you are having survivability issues, try using the Mendel’s Multivitamin shield. You can get it from a sidequest on Athenas and it always comes with +50% health and brimming.

I think the changes today create a lot of reasons not to use explosive miniguns or pods.

Sure they’re damage, but that’s it. A lot of her weapons have really good effects but were over shadowed by their lack of damage. Cryo miniguns, for one. With that extra damage, they’re going to be alot stronger, but they also provide a good amount of CC. I was already using them a good amount before this, but I’m really excited to use them now .

@sammantixbb is going to love better sabot rounds too. They were already good and now they’ll shred.

My only hope is that they’re not over-tooling moze with these changes. I dont want things to be easy mode.

To be fair, now Bear is super competitive and one or two tricks make Bear mega strong. Those one or two tricks tend to balance out in other ways, so I’m not super concerned.

I’m hearing from previous Bear deniers that Bear feels at least kinda worth using to them now, and some of us are sitting back like “well, I own the world now, see ya on m10”

I would say so against Exploding Bullets, they suck now in comparison to Vanquisher or Sabot. But my Vanq’s are hitting 100k+ per arm now. They are definitely keeping up with Sabot. I did a lot of comparison so far between the two and I still prefer Vanquisher but Sabots damage is really good now too (doing 200k+ per arm on explosion). It still feels more fluid and consistent using Vanqs though for me, they still have the biggest bust potential because of how fast they fire multiple rockets.

Oh I did a whole Slaughter Shaft run with Hammerdown protocol using my +4 SSB/ +1DL Raging Bear. Very usable now, fun but a little slower paced.

Too bad that Auto Bear is useless with Vanquisher Rocket Pods. That’s pretty much why I’ve swapped to exploding bullets. Haven’t tried the new buff to specialist bear yet

Autobear is far better with Sabot then EB I suggest trying that.

yup, with some of the weapon changes as well, i’m really happy to refarm a lvl 57 raging bear and hop back on that build.

oh i meant more about utility effects of weapons. with the increases to base damage and capability, a lot more of the weapons will be viable because they’ll actually be able to output damage, and their utility effects will be worth taking because of it. vanq’s and sabots will still be top for damage for sure, i’m just excited that less powerful weapons that have utility will be usable now too.

I don’t have enough points in the red tree to pick up Sabot but i’ll keep that in mind if I run more points in the red tree

Sabot is wreckage now. Especially if you break it.

About to try a Vanq x Nuke set for a moment

How do you break it ?

Splash boosts. GM. 5 rpms. Radius. Everything possible.

Omg Vanq X Nuke is wild :joy::joy::joy:

Man, I can’t wait to get on and start testing out Iron Bear buffs. I’m pretty interested in seeing if Autobear can oneshot the likes of gigamind / traunt with dual nukes + 160 splash annoint + blast master + specialist bear

I’ve been testing the buffs on Mayhem 4 for an hour now and…

For the first time I feel stronger INSIDE Iron Bear than OUTSIDE Iron bear which makes me really happy. It’s so fun to not be forced to use the default rocket pods anymore.

The nukes are REALLY good for mob control now. Small enemies can no longer overrun my Iron Bear and the shortened cooldown between shots allows for decent life steal, too.

The railguns feel crazy strong now when using the correct element against enemies. Before the buff I always felt like the default rocket pods were just overall better than railguns no matter what. Now I can imagine myself using railguns if I knew what element I’ll need beforehand.

To keep things short: This hotFIX actually FIXED Iron Bear for me.

Is this against bosses? Because you can fire them way more than 8 times against normal mobs. I usually let both off at the same time.

Wow the nukes really wipe trash mobs like they are nothing. I was able to kill Traunt with 2 Iron Bears. Auto Bear didn’t seem to do much to Traunt for some reason… does he resist radiation?

shields naturally resist radiation
his red bar is neutral to it

shields are naturally weak to radiation in tvhm

Radiation actually does more damage against shields, armor resists rad. Opposition for cryo.
