I’m trying out a phaseslam build and boy, do I die a lot. I already knew about Anima and DOTs being lethal (Barrels in SS anyone ) but I am wondering about Arms Deal. Increased splash but double that in splash damage reduction…
Am I best just leaving thios alone? Obviously Phaseslam is a very in your face playstyle so the risks of picking up status effects goes up.
Thoughts…

Amara has 3 skills that provide damage reduction. However, you’ll notice the skills have diminishing returns in the skill. Not to mention the way math works for damage reduction in nearly every game it naturally suffers from diminishing returns. As such if I spec into the green tree I will put at least 2 in Arms deal. That gives you 21% splash damage reduction. I would only put more if I was really focusing on splash guns only and 20% splash damage is decent. Arms Deal, Helping Hands, and One with Nature max out at 40% reduction for splash damage, overall damage, and elemental damage respectively. Helping Hands and One with Nature I tend to go for 2-4 points in each depending on the build and what COM I’m using.
Anima I max out if I need to get the capstone because the other options are bad. If I only need to get a little into the tree I put 2 in Anima and 3 in Steady Hands. Infusion, Wildfire, Conflux, and Catharsis are bad. Illuminated Fist is bad if you aren’t using melee.
Yeah, I hear ya but I don’t use anima. Far too much chance of bleeding out to a dot. I am currently putting points into Infusion just to get down the tree. I also sometimes forgo Samsara and use the points to get down to Forceful expression for damage. Now I know all about Infusion being a damage nerf, but quite frankly, damage is not something I am struggling with. More survivability.
Here is the build I have just run the slaughter shaft with, on M4.
