Coming back.. performance degraded, i think

Last I play the game was maxed out at level 50, and Mayhem 3, there was no event or DLC yet.

Since then I got a new PC, much better graphics guard, better memory, better SSD, better CPU…

And now today I play again
The game slow down quite often, even in Sanctuary!

What happened? :open_mouth:
Any tip to improve performance?

Two things off the top of my head.

  1. Open the game’s main menu (ESC on PC) and chose “Social”. Go to the last tab and ensure the Echo extension is turned off.
  2. If you are on PC and your system supports it change the DirectX version to 12. The game will take longer to load but it can run faster if your system supports it.

Indeed, was still on DirectX11… reloading… “optimising shaders”… we shall see how it goes…

What is this ECHO extension? :open_mouth:

Edit, I am in… checking social menu!
Oh it’s about twitch and such… good it’s off by default

Also reduced he quality from Ultra to High. Should help and still be beautiful!

It’s a feature for Twitch streamers that allows the game/streamer and viewers who have the game to interact with each other. Details here.

Now the reason I suggested you disable it is that in the latest patch GBX added new features to the extension that seem to have negative impact on performance. A number I’ve seen thrown around is 10%. So given that there is no downside to disabling it we might as well, no?

If you REALLY want to get into the weeds of optimizing your graphics setting I recommend the following. I’ve made most of the adjustments they recommended and it did improve my FPS.

Do tell - I’ve been skittish about trying DX12 after reliable crashes.

Well… I did reduce graphics quality to High.
At any rate it;s working quite fine now!

Bug, if there are any, will probably depend on the Graphics Driver… so I dunno. I got NVidia

I updated from an older, solid driver because Doom Eternal required it, which broke Shadowplay and, well, I can’t tell if performance is worse, because as long as it’s over 40FPS, it’s hard to tell with GSync. I have on occasion picked up a pixelated black blob that disappears after a moment with this new driver though. It’s rare and easy to ‘fix’ by looking away for a moment, but still.
