I don’t have any to test this out with myself, but I’m curious.
Since pet damage resets stackbot, it should stack consecutive hits. And He Bite’s does seem to be counted as damage done by the pet since it gets Gamma Burst damage and scales with some pet skills. As such, it should hypothetically work with CH.
If it does, then could it beat the Gamma anoint in Red Fang builds?
Pretty sure it does. i’ve been recommending Consecutive Hits as an alternative in Gamma’s Corrosive weaponry, since those are usually reserved to deal with the tough armor, meaning the Gamma Anoint gets less from it.
Wouldn’t say it beats it necessarily. On the situations where your Radiation damage from the anointment isn’t being severely reduced (vs. armor), Gamma Anoint should still have an edge. It is a real option.
With terror gear making a comeback and the possibility of sustaining 50% cryo while terrified to deal with armor, does it have more value in that instance?
Hypothetically, you could run a terror build with crit, cryo, and CH. I wonder how it would compare to a standard Gamma setup?
I used to run a Terror Gamma setup which had a very big edge compared to usual Gamma:
Infinite Ammo (or much higher magazine sustain) + Fire Rate and Damage + Terror Cryo on the anti-armor guns. Needed a Face Puncher to apply Terror (without glitches/fakebursting), which got annoying quickly and reminded me too much of swapping to a slag weapon on BL2, so i kinda grew away from it.
A lot of guns still had Gamma Anoint, and guns like Brainstormer could use either. But this was when Gamma Anoint was still 65%, right now it can somewhat keep up with 50% Cryo vs. Armor through its sheer numbers. Terror Crit is a big bonus but i don’t think it really compares to extra elements or an overall damage increase, simply because the crit requirement, even with megavore, can be a bit painful vs. some enemies while not even really giving a DPS edge.
Terror was the way to push Gamma’s DPS above Rakk’s on Mayhem 3 (before ASE Elements for Shield and Nade existed). I would still consider playing it right now if we had on-level gear for it.
Alternatively right now, the Grenade Throw Anointment acts as purely multiplicative on a Gamma build if you don’t have any Weapon Type Damage boosts (which are also recommended for maximum DPS, however they are painful for those who like more generalist gameplay). This is a way to achieve great potential DPS on Gamma. Having Weapon Type Damage + Grenade Throw Anoint is as if you had nearly 10/5 in Hidden Machine (these are all additive to each other), which is a hefty multiplier to have around in Gamma.
