Moze "The Gunner" a Consecutive Hits Build

"MOZE THE GUNNER"

What should i expect from this build:

  • Kill things/Have fun.
  • Being able to swap weapons whenever you feel the need to.
  • Use Iron Bear however you want to.
  • Have enough survavility and damage to complete every single piece of content in the game.

PLAYSTYLE

This is a run and gun type of build, we want to go from enemy A to B in the shortest time possible.
CQC, the closest the better, that will aloows us to miis the least amount of shot and keep that consecutive hits bonus up.
Since we are not running splash weapons our main source of grenade regen will be Short Fuse.

“MOZE THE GUNNER” SKILL TREE

  • Cloud of Lead’s free shot acts like an amped shot (i think) just like Zane’s Barrier, so while shotting the Redistributor the shots will chain every 9/4 shots.

  • Selfless Vengance, good to ramp up the consecutive hits buonus after reloading.

  • Stoke the Embers, Redistribution, The iron Bank, Forge, Pull the Holy Pin. this set of skill is what makes the green tree a perfect match for the consecutive hits anointment, ammo regen, bonuses on critical hits and the chance to apply a DoT will helps us to shot for an insane amount of time and prevent that the consecutive hits bonus stops stacking.

  • Rushing Offensive and Scrappy for our run and gun playstyle.

  • Click Click , a cool gimmick here is to empty your magazine next to a vending machine a buy ammo, for most weapon you need to find that sweet spot where you dont run out of ammo but you empty it enough to get the bonus from click click.

  • Drowning in Brass Armored infantry to boost our base and mobbing damage.
Most of the Demo Woman its just a waste of points, the main reason to use it with this build is because of Vampyr our only healing skill, you can run this build without sending points on blue tree but for the hardest content, vampyr is necessary.
Besides theres a couple of skill like Grizzled, SSB that will boost Iron Bear damage.
Edit: You can run this build without spending 0 points into the Demolition Woman tree.

Green Monster

This mod adds an extra projectile to our weapons and adds a chance to apply a corrosive DoT to our enemies on top of Moze’s incendiary skills. Also the green monster for some reason add splash bonus like the Blast Master mod, so once we hop into iron bear , its damage will increase every second.

Now that we have access to 2 capstones and we are speccing into FORGE/SHORT FUSE, the best roll we ca use is +5 in Scorching RPMs. due to the interaction between Short Fuse/SRPMs we will get a massive boost in damage and on top of that buffs to crit damage and most inportant FIRE RATE. Fire rate is the king in this build, the faster we shot the more times we will proc short fuse, hence regenerates grenades and we can ramp up the CH anoint faster.

Passives:

  • Magasize Size
  • Fire Rate
  • AR Damage
  • SMG Damage

RELICS

  • The Pearl of Ineffable Knowledge: Our favorite relic from now on, 90 weapon damage on top of the multiplicative bonus for the first 15 shots.

Note aside: ### Snowdrift Otto Idol is still our best choice for Wotan.

PASSIVES:

  • Magazine Size
  • Fire Rate

SHIELDS

  • Double Downer: Overall an excellent choice for any build.

GRENADES:

  • Cloning Maddening Tracker

Also considered: Vindicator Ghast Call, if you have it i recomend this one over the CMT.
Vindicator Ghast Call, Corrosive Redistributor and Flesh Melter could be a sick combo.

Weapons
Most of the next weapons have variations on their mag size, after a lot of tests i think that medium to high mag size is the best option.

  • Redistributor/Brainstormer

Both of this guns can be use as our main mobbing weapons, the green monster mod add an extra projectile and the chained projectile seems to count towards the consecutive hits bonus (i havent tested this last part). Cloud of lead also seems to amp the shots from the redistributor and make it chain to enemies.

  • Soulrender Full Auto

  • Sickle

BOSSING/SECOND WINDS

  • Cutsman

For big enemies like Wotan, Tyreen, etc. the slow projectile speed and the fact that it ticks enemies as it passes through them make it on e of the best weapon with this anointments.

  • The Dictator

Preferable the x6 variant, it can shot 14 projectiles while on bipod mode, so reaching the 200% bonus from the consecutive hits anointments will be fairly easy, especially again madium/large size enemies.

  • Redline/Quickie

Both of this guns are the exception, we dont want a consecutive hits anointments on them, since our main use will be bossing and killing single targets 160% splash damage is preferred.

  • Hyperfocus ZX41

DESIGNATED LOOT DROP SOURCES

  • The Dictator: Agonizer 9000
  • Redistributor: Wotan- Valkiries-Maliwan Takedown
  • Brainstormer: Katagawa Jr
  • Redline: Road Dog
  • Cutsman: Borman Nates
  • Hyperfocus: Starship Troopers
  • Sourlrender: Tom and Xom-Hearts Desire (Guns, Love and Tentacles DLC)
  • Quickie: Gun Gun- Vending Machines- Any Enemy
  • Green Monster: Jack Bot (Moxxi’s DLC)
  • Double Downer: Double Down-Mission Reward Spendopticon (Moxxi’s DLC)
  • Otto Idol: Tyreen
  • The Pearl of Ineffable Knowledge- Claptrap’s Mision Reward (Guns, Love and Tentacles DLC)

Very cool. Did you try specing into Short Fuze instead of Forge and if so, how did the performance compare?

You mean like a green monster/short fuse setup? I didnt test that. I’m gonna give it a try. My guess is that it would be hard for most of this guns to regen ammo only with redistribution.
Do you think the 75% damage will make up for less shots fired?

What I did test was a forge/phalanx of doctrine/blastmaster (4 vampyr/1 redistribution), it was underwhelming, seems like the corrosive bonus, extra projectile and the DoT from the Green Monster it’s far better to maintain the consecutive hits bonus.

Correct. You will also have Means of Destruction returning ammo and grenades. It has been working for me using a Carrier, I imagine it will work on the Redistributor and Brainstormer as well.

Here was my problem with consecutive hits build and Green Monster:

Brainstormer is the best weapon for consecutive hits, especially with Short Fuse proccing FitSD, which is considered as constant damage for consecutive hits.

Redundant Brainstormer is best for chaining, ergo for Short Fuse, ergo for FitSD.

Ammo sustain is difficult. You have to let up the trigger and reload cancel via grenade throw to regain ammo.

In which case, Blast Master increasing SF and grenade damage is your better option.

Going all the way down to forge is a trap in my opinion. Iron Bear isn’t as useful (consecutive hit stacks are maintained while in IB), and Short Fuse/1 point in FitSD is more useful for maintaining stacks outside of IB. This, all while maintaining IB damage/use.

In your build, you are relying entirely on foot damage, and ignoring IB. Since you can maintain stacks in IB while being basically unkillable, still do considerable damage, and have a get out of jail free card… Why wouldn’t you?

I get that GM is “the highest damage potential for IB” but unless you are using SF, you’re missing out on a lot of damage.

I just feel there are more efficient ways to do the same thing, while still using the meta build; who being more versatile overall.

I should have started my post telling why I’m not using splash weapons (except the redline, my favorite weapon and quickie) or I didnt even think about using Short Fuse, the thing is that I’m sick of explosions.

This is the description from my youtube video:

Tired of using splash weapons?, the screen pollution?, not being able to swap weapons? and hoping into IRON BEAR only proc anointments?

I’m pretty sure it’s the best weapon to proc consecutive hits, I even put it as one of my main weapons. The thing is like you said it’s pretty difficult to maintain the ammo regen, you’ll have to reload at some point and waste time either reloading or doing grenade cancelling.

In my experience the redistributor is far better while playing, it might not be the best on paper because it doesnt have as many projectiles per shot or chains, but it has a high fire rate, high mag size and the recoil it’s practically 0 after the first few shot besides forge and redistribution can regen ammo faster than you can shot.

You really dont need FitSD, the green monster and your gun elements add DoT, pretty often if not all the time.

This is basically because Im not an Iron Bear fan, it still can kill trash mobs easily. I know that short fuse, SSB could add alot of damage to my build in general.

Of course there is, but I’ll be basically running the same build as everybody else and I’m not trying to tell people that this is the meta, it’s a different build that can complete, kill everything in this game very easily.

All good points. When running a consecutive hit build, I also don’t use splash weapons… But SF+FitSD is so good for DoT, for proccing MoD, and for IB damage… I feel it’s an all around more versatile choice. Yes, you are basically ending up with the meta build, albeit without the meta guns.

However, consecutive hits build does have higher damage potential than the current meta annointments, for sure.

All around, it’s a decent build, though.

thanks to OP for suggesting something else than splash splash splash splashity splash that meta getting old fast

Yeah I’m gonna stay away from splash for a while I forgot how fun it was to actually see and pin point what you’re shooting. Lol

Agreed there.

Is there a math post breaking down this anointment, I’m pretty sure I read one but it didnt explain the maths IRC (I’m not sure if there so much to explain really)

Basically, consecutive hits can stack up to 200% damage. This applies to ALL damage dealt: guns, grenades, IB, etc. Ergo, higher damage potential. Especially when paired with GM or BM, since those both do extra splash damage, not flat damage. V1 vs V2 damage bonii. Basically… Some things are multiplicative, some things are additive, but only with each other or against each other. Stuff is weird.

Just a heads up, MoD only regens 1 ammo at a time, not sure if you were aware. Doesn’t make up for Forge a whole lot. I guess with an absolute ton of Short Fuse procs it might have a somewhat noticeable effect for the Carrier?

You have to combine it with grenades and PtHP — in addition to MoD.

I totally feel Hugo though as the screen pollution gets pretty crazy.

I have a 125% Fire - Brainstormer, It’s not redundant but I can hold the trigger indefinitely running Short Fuse & Spamming CMTs.

I might have missed this I thought it was only card damage on the gun? If this applies to everything that’s insanity. I know green Monster boost splash damage which would be why grenades get stronger if running CH with GM. But I haven’t noticed an overall increase for all damage.

I feel weird when the screen isn’t filled with explosions.

I just got a carrier and a recursion with consecutive hits.
I admit that if forgot that the carrier existed, I guess the bonus should ramp up pretty fast right?

What’s you veredict on the green monster’s extra projectiles? Its unintended, intended, it’s a glitch? Should we embrace it because GB probably is not going to bother in recoding how bonus elemental works?

This isn’t always the case, especially not with Moze. I have a cash infused with this anointment on it and Moze can get this to stack pretty high, my Moze can’t run a redundant as easily my Fl4k can though.

There’s a thread titled something like brainstormering the brainstormer and the testing lead to the conclusion that due to damage differences the normal versions are better when the extra projectile is involved. It had something to do with the damage from the link were still stronger. So it may allow green monster to deal more damage and sustain said damage better than a redundant.

It seems the consecutive hit and damage per kill are multiplicative, got over 50k from the 50% elemental damage on ase on a Maggie stacking the kills last night.

Correct. If you are using a Green Monster, every bullet will hit at least three times (four times if you have Experimental Munitions and are hitting a crit).

You’re missing our on a lot of damage being so specced into scorching rpms and stainless steel bear but NOT short Fuse. By that point it does more damage than the shot that proccd it. Its worth more than Forge imo.

Also a little known fact is that Shrediffier + short Fuse + maxed out stainless steel bear and scorching rpms = one of the most damaging ARs in the game . Kinda only works with moze and ammo saving abilities though

Cant imagine that Shreddifier with consecutive hits annointment though. Finding one is still my holy grail

Yep, I replied to the other three comments suggesting the same, while I was trying this build i never considered using short fuse, why? Because I’m tired of seeing explosions in my screen. If I could I would do a green/red tree and completely avoid the blue tree (but I need vampyr)
I’ve running different variations of short fuse builds since m4 dropped, I get that it’s the meta but its was fun to find something different, viable and that’s actually let me see what part of the enemy I’m shooting at.

That would be amazing, no way I’m farming SS for it tho.

Have you tested the grenade boost? Maybe if it’s it works the way you say, I could start using the transfusion grenades instead of vampyr or at least tried them out and see if its viable.
