I have pretty much gotten to the point where the major point of Raid failure, at least for me, is when Wotan throws his double shield.
If I can break the outer shield then 9 times out of 10, I win.
At least for me, Moze does not have the movement speed to constantly catch up and maintain position against that open rotating portion of the inner shield.
Sometimes I can get lucky and jump into iron bear and get it done. And sometimes I get lucky that the open portion is rotating towards me. And sometimes I get lucky that when I get put down, there is an enemy close by to FFYL off of.
But too many times I simply fail at this point.
What methods or weapons do you guys use to quickly break that outer shield?
When I play with a Amara or Zane player It is not an issue. When I solo as Moze it can be a pain. Again, at least for me.
The coolest thing I’ve seen for this phase with Moze is to stick Wotan with redline stickies BEFORE he gets into this phase and then activate the stickies once he throws the shields up so that you don’t even have to do anything. You have to time it right but if you do, you can break his shields without even being close to him
I use a victory rush artifact but I know alot of people like snowdrifts, those will help with that phase and out running rocket volleys.
You could also throw a clusterf*ck grenade under Wotan and they all blow up under him.
Are you doing the scaled or true Takedown?
Easy, snowdrift is one solution. Another is to activate ASE with a shield that has +75% anointment. Another is to spam grenades while entering the outer shield layer. Best to get in right away before the enemies spawn.
You can actually jump up the air vent and shoot the top of the barrier with certain weapons. Nukem, tiggs boom, lead sprinkler, wedding invitation (ricochet will hit him).
The brainstomer can help bypass the shield(s) via its chains. I personally don’t use it nor I use a snowdrift, but I just strafe-bunnyhop like like a rabid furret under cocaine and I manage to keep up with the slit in his shield (first one) or I just use the elevated platforms to shoot above it (second one).
I am pretty aggressive with my playstile tho, and I always have either vampyr or my bbb to keep me up whenever it’s needed.

Tigg’s Boom allegedly can go straight through because it pierces enemies but since it drops from Wotan you may not actually have one (can’t confirm it 100% because I don’t have one, just heard someone state it)
I’d recommend a Brainstormer. If you get into the outer shield and shoot at any of the minions there, the lightning will link up straight with Wotan and shred his shield bar.
An old, and time-consuming, method I used with Moze during the double bubble phase was to use Quasars to pull the Maliwan soliders out from behind the shields and kill them off one by one until they stopped spawning, and then just charge in and facetank Wotan in Iron Bear (he’d usually last long enough to take down the shield). But yeah, don’t do that. Just use a Brainstormer or shock Redistributor (if you have one.) The link chains go right through the shield bubbles between Wotan and his minions. I haven’t tried yet, but the Polyaimourous from the Broken Hearts event does a similar link chaining thing so that might work too.

I do a slight variation on that – shoot through the slot to knock out the first shield layer then shoot the mobs with a redistributor or brainstormer to chain take down the second shield.

If you have the red investment for Sabot rounds, find a blast master or green monster with Splash radius, and switch to those for that phase. If my experience is correct,you can then not worry much about the opening and hit the inner shield. A little less stress. Lemme check my video in a bit.
Also, brain stormer and Capacitive Armature can chain from enemies to Wotan.
Lead sprinkler or nukem are the easy way or Amara’s phasegrasp if you have 5 minutes to spare. Also recursion can hit ads in the bubble and ricochet to wotan. Or as Zane walk in there with your bubble and slap wotan with whatever you want
@flightx3aa Inner shield I can drop really easy by going up the air shaft and chucking a couple shock tediore shotguns down the top hole in the inner shield.
It’s getting the outer to drop that gives me issues. Seems to be my main point of failure in that raid…
Are you saying the outer shield has the same hole…and I have just never noticed it??

No, what he’s saying is that certain splashes damage upon hitting that spot will leak through and make it to Wotan. Tiggs Booms in particular especially with the Meteor procs. But anything with a splash radius that gets by the shield and to the metal monster.
The reason being that this too part is close enough to Wotan that the splash hit makes it to him.
