I have done some testing with the shield, and what I have found is that in addition to the amp bonus (~125% amp damage for 25% shield drain), when the shield breaks, a circle will drop on the ground that provides a 50% multiplicative gun damage bonus. This makes it an ideal shield for getting second winds, as when you get downed, the circle will usually spawn under or around you, providing a time frame of about 5-6 seconds of bonus damage. However, no one seemed to have tested the specifics very far, and from my testing, I found that although you do not get bonus grenade or melee damage as well as the gun damage while in the circle, you do get ACTION SKILL damage, making this the only offense shield in the game for action skill builds. I’m trying to get my hands on one for my rakk build, as the damage bonus helps immensely with such a niche build. Anyways, sorry for the rant, but this extra information may be useful in understanding when to use the shield and for what builds it is useful in.
hey thanks for the info, i haven’t pulled any of the maliwan gear other than tankman’s shield yet cuz i’ve been focusing on maxing lvl on all my VHs. but good to know
Some additional information to note: the shield does not have to regenerate back to full in order to proc the circle. It is just a bonus that you get every time your shield breaks, making it considerably more useful, and even more so when you factor in the bonus guardian rank perks that boost shield recharge rate and delay, or even start shield regen on kill. That being said, it is also possible to have multiple circles on the ground at once. In my testing, it didn’t seem to stack the damage bonus, and is highly impractical to set up due the circle duration (about 6 seconds) and also a very strange mechanic. While inside the circle, you get “hit” but take no damage, preventing shield regen while inside the circle. Even if it did stack, it would still be more plausible to just take the benefit from one of them rather than try to get two or more stacked. Lastly, the bonus damage is not snapshotted, meaning that you cannot shoot while inside the circle, leave it, and still get the damage bonus as your projectile hits a target. That’s about as much useful information as I could compile on this shield, and if anyone has further questions on how the version 0.m functions, ask me, and if I don’t have the answer, I’ll try to obtain it through testing. I hope this post gets a little bit more traction, as I feel like this shield is not only under appreciated, but misunderstood as well. I know this information was useful for me to help decide whether to farm for it or not, and hopefully it does the same for you. They really weren’t lying when they said the Maliwan Takedown was going to be where you obtain the best shields in the game!
@deleona144. I have two in the bank, never used as the stats looked pants! Im definitely testing the b-jayzus out of it when I get home from work!! Thankyou. If you have any other informative threads, please point me to them!
Thanks for the info - I just picked up one up that deals a cryo nova on shield break. I’ll try it out and see how it works
This is no longer a trading post. Hopefully now more people will be able to see this to better understand the version 0.m shield and it’s functions.
