Questions on ASE Elemental Anointments for Amara

I’m planning on hunting down some Action Skill End Elemental gear for my Amara and had some questions on how they interact with each other.

  1. Does the same element with the same anointments stack? (On Action Skill End, gain 50% bonus >Element< Damage with Weapons for 10 seconds.)
  2. Does the same element with different anointments stack. (Damage with Weapons for 10 seconds + The next 2 magazines will have 50% additional bonus)
  3. For weapons on Amara, is the 50% elemental damage more or less than Weapon Damage is increased by 100% for a short time.
  4. Does the added damage apply DoT? If Amara uses infusion, she can apply multiple DoT elements at once. Does this behave the same way?
  5. Are there some element combos that are better than others?
  6. I’ve seen that with a Spiritual Driver, you need multiple ASE Elemental anointments to get full stacks of mindfulness. Why is this the case? Does the anointments also increase DoT damage?

Thanks.

I know for a fact the extra damage on a.s.e does not stack. A fire weapon with bonus fire damage does stack.

  1. No, the same don’t stack.
  2. Yes.
  3. I would say less in general but depends on gun. You should test it by yourself.
  4. Yes. I’m using radiation after ASE on grenade, and it can apply rad dot with Face Puncher (melee too?).
  5. Depends on gun and enemy. Shock/Rad and Cryo/Corr combo will be better on fire gun if you fight with triple bar enemy etc.
  6. I’m not sure it increase original DoT on guns, but it’s easy to test.

As GrzesPL said, 1. no and 2. yes. A shield mod and a grenade mod that both give +50% fire will not stack, you’ll get only +50% fire overall. So don’t use the same element on these, that does nothing.

A weapon’s ASE elemental bonus does stack with that of a shield/grenade, so feel free to combine them. +50% fire for next 2 magazines + 50% fire from a shield = +100% fire. Also stacks with Forceful Expression, so you can get +118% fire.

Note: Some weapons come with “+20% radiation after ASE”, these are actually +40%. They also stack, so with “+20%” from a gun and +50% radiation from a shield you get +90% radiation.

Depends on your enemies. In a fight like Graveward, everything is flesh, so you’ll want to choose whatever is best to kill flesh. For mixed enemy types, the weakest link has the biggest impact, so you’ll want to combine elements in a way that they’re not all weak against a certain HP type (e.g. fire + corrosive + cryo is bad against shields, which will significantly increase number of shots needed to take down the shield). When fighting against multiple enemy types, try to combine elements in a way that’s balanced against all of them (e.g. fire + shock + cryo).

Mindfulness stacks last 5 seconds. Elemental DOT is applied at 3 ticks per second, so after 5 seconds (15 ticks) the first stacks disappear at the same rate that new ones are added, leaving you with max. 15 stacks at a time.

If you’ve got an elemental bonus, it will also deal damage to you on every tick, this counts as another attack for Mindfulness so you get 6 stacks per second instead of 3. This way, you could theoretically get 30 Mindfulness stacks at a time, but you’ll hit the cap at 25. This means you don’t have to use 2 different elemental bonuses, 1 is enough to reach the cap.

Thanks everyone. This has been very educational.

It sounds like the +100% ASE bonus damage are still better than the 50% elemental damage then. I’ll keep those as my weapons. However, the shields and grenades are worth incorporating into my builds.
