Just wanted to get an idea of what shields yall use. My Zane just hit 50 this morning and right now have two I kind of switch between and both are just Epic rarity.
One is a 10k with 10% HP and 17% movement speed while shields full.
usually that is a toss up between transformer- bullet; dense area stop gap-melee/bossing areas; big boom blaster-for distributed denial builds; nova or recharger burner-for distributed denial AOE builds. some use frozen heart for CCC as well.
there is a lot of conflict with zane CCC needs full shields novas go off on depletion etc.

I’m mostly running a Transformer because I can refill it with a shock Devil’s Foursome any time I want.
I do also have a stopgap and for some Bossfights I use a Rough Rider because it goes well with the Infiltrator class mod.
Yes, it buffs off lower the shield, so you get max benefit from RR being ‘depleted’.

Yes. It breaks shield on activation but that’s not the relevant part when using the rough rider. The important thing is that it increases your gun damage and movement speed the lower your shields are and since the Rough Rider is always depleted you do always get the full bonus.
It also has some nice synergy with calm, cool, collected because it disables the shield full condition, meaning that you immediately get your action skill back when freezing an enemy as long as you are full health (and if you use the barrier, being full health is actually most of the time).
I have a friend that loves the big boom blaster on his Zane but I got him hooked on the stopgap, he likes the turtle variation.
I don’t main Zane but I like a more aggressive play style so I use the rough rider and take advantage of CCC and his ridiculous healing kill skills, the recharge berner or a red card are pretty fun for slide builds takeing advantage of the antifreeze mod.
Thanks - I’ve been trying to figure out how that COM is supposed to be used. I tried it with the Stop Gap, but it just sort of blinked for a second. For other shields (with any sort of recharge), it’s nice to be able to trigger it on the fly with skill activation, but the buffs fade as the shield recharges (and skill activations aren’t frequent enough with him - I try to keep those things going as long as I can). With the Rough Rider (and a Barrier because I don’t have him set up for good enough healing for tanky combat without a shield), we have a winner.
It’s hard to beat the Big Boom Blaster on, well, anyone. A nigh-indestructible shield and free grenade/heavy ammo (fairly often when under fire)? My Atlas Zane had a go at Athenas in MM4, and was using rocket launchers a lot… about halfway through the map (when I’m basically out of ammo), I’m standing in elemental puddles trying to replenish my launcher ammo. (I did notice the new vending machine placements though - much appreciated!).
Can he make good use of the Re-Charger? I haven’t been able to wrap my head around how its gimmick works. Like if the recharge starts immediately after break but can be interrupted normally, it’s so rare that I’m hit by a shot that breaks the shield but not also under subsequent fire or DoT where this free instant recharge trigger is wasted because it’s immediately reset, that it seems like a waste? Am I missing something?

Depends a bit. I haven’t used that build a whole lot but for Graveward in particular (who I like to farm with it) the Clone is nearly useless.
