OP levels aren't working, what do I do?

Hey peeps, I’m a level 72 ZER0 on UVHM and I have beaten the Raid on Digistruct Peak four different times, back to back, and haven’t gotten any prompts regarding OP levels. I’m confused? Am I missing something?

Have you got the new update? This raises the level cap to 80, which means you can’t progress through OP levels until then. If you do, you should see activity in your XP bar.

So OP levels are irrelevant until I get the new update? Man, that’s kind of lame. I get it but still. Thanks though.

No, sorry if I wasn’t clear : if you don’t have the update and 72 really is the cap, then you really should be able to gain OP levels.

When you completed the first run, did it give you the pop up screen in the Assassins arena (“congratulations, you’ve unlocked OP1”, etc.)? Or did it say something like “try again when you’ve reached level x”?

If it did, when you reload the game you should be able to toggle up from OP0 to OP1 before launching the game.

Sorry I’m on my phone so can’t post screenshots. I’ll see if I can find some from previous posts of mine.

It was something like try again when you reach level 80, which is weird cause 72 is my level cap…

Swear i read somewhere that the original op levels were broken due to that last dlc

Apparently when GBX decided to implement the Fight for Sanctuary DLC just before BL3 coming out they ended up breaking gaining OP levels at the original level cap. At least this is definitely not the first time I’ve seen a post about this very topic.

Originally you could gain OP levels when you were max level, which back then was 72, but “funnily” enough when the appropriately acronymed FFS came around and raised the level cap to 80 it causes people to not be able to get OP levels at 72 even if they don’t own the FFS DLC.

The worst part is I don’t think GBX is even going to fix any of the bugs that the DLC brought with it.

Thats right, if you have Hansome Collection on Consoles or play BL2 on PC, you need Fight for Sanctuary to be able to use OP levels.
Only original version of BL2 on PS3 and X360 are not affected with this.

While this is an old thread, I figure it deserves a posted workaround that doesn’t involve purchasing the fight for sanctuary DLC as that can’t even be bought for the Epic store version…

Assuming you have the originally relevant DLCs you can use the hex multi tool for borderlands to increase your level cap to 81. It has to be (at least) 81 not 80 for whatever reason without the latest DLC, but in doing so OP levels function just fine.

Yes, it is sort of cheating being one level higher than intended, but seeing as this likely will never be officially fixed and locks people out of a significant part of the game they paid for with no other recourse in some cases… Just do it.

Poor form GBX. Poor form.
