I’ve searched around and don’t see anyone else complaining of this issue.
Absolutely no crits are activating with the Cutsman when using “Fade Away” and I don’t know if it’s a bug or if for some bizarre reason this is an intended mechanic with FL4K’s ult.
Every other gun, crits proc with every shot, but the Cutsman… nothing. Anyone know about or experience this?

However, “Fade Away” turns every single shot into a crit, anywhere on the body, but it does not work with the Cutsman.
The only crits I land while using “Fade Away” are the normal crits that would be landed hitting the crit spot.
With any other gun, while using “Fade Away”, every shot anywhere is indeed a crit.
As you’ve stated, I’m wondering if it’s due to how the beam of the Cutsman is categorized, but that would be a huge oversight and I’d think that with all the people running FL4K and the Cutsman, a hugely popular gun, that someone else would have noticed.

I had a feeling, though I’ve absolutely no idea why they would have programmed it in such a manner, as it makes using the Cutsman with a “Fade Away” build useless (in regards to the skill itself), except for it’s damage outside of using FL4K’s ult.

I can’t understand the process of thinking behind this decision for the Cutsman and “Fade Away”, but I guess it is what is for the moment.
Crits are weird, and what can and can’t seems arbitrary at times? Example; Hyperion Host Shotguns can’t crit. Idk if fade away will let them. But I tried for five minutes at every angle on the dummy. Nothing.
Kill of the Wisp? Crit City. Alchemist? Only crits on explosion (otherwise, Moze or Fl4k could load it onto an enemy indefinitely. Fair enough).
Storm Orbs? Crits. BRAINSTORMER chain lightning? No crits.

Yep. Something weird here is going on, it seems like the Cutsman isn’t getting any bonuses from Fade Away at all. I just respecced so I wouldn’t get any interference from skills with the damage I do, and crit damage with the Cutsman was the same outside of Fade Away and during Fade Away. And yep, body shots with the Cutsman during Fade Away are definitely not critting at all.
Yeah, Fade Away makes every single shot a crit and does not specify that it needs to be a projectile, so I see no reason it would not be working.
Crit dmg remains the same with Cutsman and the crits do not proc when using Fade Away with the Cutsman. Literally every other single gun I’ve tried works fine with Fade Away and the skill works as intended.
Since it’s happening to you as well (and thank you for testing for yourself) either it’s a game-wide bug, or there’s some unfathomable decision by the devs that was made to prevent it, though since it’s not the most powerful gun in the game, that would make no sense.
I’m also genuinely shocked that no one has actually reported or asked about this as of yet. I’m sure there’s at least 50k people running FL4K who also love the Cutsman, which most do, who would have noticed.
Well, perhaps it can be reported as a bug to the devs, or asked about to find out if it even is a bug. Maybe a mod from the forums could pass it on, which they’d sometimes do on the old forums many years ago. Either way, I hope to find an answer to the issue.
At least it’s been great interaction on the forums here thus far, so I’m glad for that and appreciate the testing you just did yourself to confirm this. Now hopefully we can just find/get an answers and resolve to the issue. Cheers!

I think it might be something to do with it being a beam. Sorta like tesla grenades. And being classified like that might make it be treated by the game as a grenade beam?
But it should still crit in Fade Away. Brainstormer does, so I can’t see why this shouldn’t.

If they built it out of a grenade beam, and only changed it to make it so it could crit at the location, the games Fade Away process might be reading it as a grenade, and if Fade Away doesn’t make grenades crit, then that’s where we are.

Fade away seems to be critting only on main projectiles, which is ok. This wouldn’t be ok to have crits on brainstormer chainning effect or rocket launcher lump missiles (main projectile crit, but if you miss shot, this projectile launches missiles at enemies) - this would be even more broken than Amara’s Ties that bind + Do harm. Megavore can make those extra projectiles crit.
Cutsman - technically, it fires 2 projectiles, so those could crit (if they do dmg at all), beam is probably treated as extra projectile.
