So, I farmed Handsome Jackie, the boss that now drops the Facepuncher. After 93 tries I got a non-anointed redundant face puncher. One, the drop rate seems abysmal. 2nd, question… The weapon has like a -56% damage component. Is this common for this gun? I do realize that the gun basically shoots melee but even with Amara, I was getting somewhat close results with the Deep Dive. Maybe I was expecting too much? Should I keep farming for an anointed one?

Agreed, the drop rate have dropped off dramatically. I hate playing a game that expects you to grind for hours with no rewards. It takes all the fun out of the game. We shouldn’t have to go to Slaughter Shaft or kill GW 100 times to get loot, every boss should have a respectable drop rate. Your naysayers will be quickly following this post to blame this on RNG - I don’t buy it.

Many of us only have a few hours to play daily unlike some others. With family commitments if i can put aside 3 hours to go grind for a specific loot drop i should never come away without a few of them. Especially because there are so many variants that can drop of the item.
So what if i found 12 of them in 3 hours, that is not too much because maybe the variant i want is super rare. The way things stand right now, a normal person with limited time to play will never get the gear to play harder levels like MH4 unless i trade and get gifted gear. And if that is what has to happen, it takes all the fun out of the game.
Does it always have the -dmg (suffix)? I get it does less base damage because it shoots more pellets but I was definitely underwhelmed with the damage output on my Melee Amara. Thanks!
Yes, Redundant always has a -dmg. You could get it with less or more, I’ve seen 121x14 and 134x14. Just like the normal, one I’ve had 180ishX7 and 190ishX7. This is just my memory as I don’t use it often.
