Ideas for new Zane coms *feel free to post your own suggestions*

(Red text) " I can do this all day…"
(Boosts) synchronicity, borrowed time, futility belt
(Effect): Zane gains increased gun damage the longer his actions skills stay up. (1% multiplicative per sec, capping at 30% ~35%)

I like that, especially seeing as I’ve got my build to a point I can have either clone or drone up at all times so I’d get a permenant boost.

That sounds like a com most people including me would love to use, but at the same time, people would say its boring because it doesn’t change your play style.
Coms should tremendously buff one tree or make two trees cooperate in a special manner, imo.
For example :
You get more damaged reduction the faster you move. Sliding into an enemy bounces you and the enemy back, bouncing you back further if the enemy is a badass or boss.
(So you could permanently sprint into the same enemy.)(hitman)
Or
Your clone now gunzerks, but takes double damage. (clone (and barrier))
Or
Always grants All-rounder, the ground inside your barrier is applying cryo dmg over time and enemies entering it get frozen. While inside the barrier your dmg to frozen enemies is increased by x%(Snow bubble barrier)
Or
Every dmg dealt to an enemy by a different source increases the damage that enemy takes from Zane by x% (clone+drone, also coop)
Or
Drone has an antigravity area around him making you jump higher and grants dmg reduction.
Slamming with your barrier active creates a shock nova and recharges your action skill duration.

Would be more on par with some nifty ideas we see from other vault hunters. I’m sure you would find cool names and red text for that as well. :grin:

Thanks :grinning:! I understand as far as coms go, this one would be a little bland, but quite honestly it would fix one of zanes biggest problems; consistent damage (multiplicative in specific). All those ideas for coms sound awesome though, I especially would like if that cryo bubble one ever came to be!
Edit: it could be called the (Prefix) Snowglobe!
Maybe with the red text of “A perfect little world, just for me.”
I also feel like it would boost refreshment and brainfreeze, but I’m not sure what else.

Thanks, yeah I feel like they should’ve let the Australia team make the characters, synergies and coms. They were worlds better in the pre sequel than in BL3.
I think I wouldn’t even let it cap in the 30s rather at 2 minutes or something. Or 60 seconds but give 1% per skill that stays up.

Another idea in conjunction with your com idea could be a Zer0-esque damage increase like. “The closer your skills are to running out, the more damage you deal.” that would buff cryo weapons indirectly as well as good misfortune and CCC and would make the ccc play style a bit of a high risk high reward build.

Edit: Snowglobe could buff trick the light since its now cryo and I don’t think frozen enemies target anyone.

Ya, I just dont think with the approaches taken to some of zanes other class mods (cough cough techspert and shockerator) that any huge numbers would be allowed in something like that. I do, however, think that anyone who has played zane can agree that WE NEED MULTIPLICATIVES! We need to stop getting these additive buffs (while nice they dont do enough on their own) and get some consistent multiplicatives. Because of this, I think any class mod for him that adds damage (outside of some stupidly high number) should be multiplicative, at least. Heck, techspert at least could be reworked to involve giving the drone damage instead of the nigh worthless ability on it now.

Reaper

While your Action Skill is active, every kill scored increases the strength of your Kill Skills by 20% and their duration by 4s. This effect stacks. All stacks decay in FFYL or when you have no action skill active.

Oooohhh I LOVE that idea! The reaper class mod sounds really cool, and it could really bump up the hitman tree.

So you mean after killing an enemy the kill skill lasts 19 seconds? And the next one gives you 23 seconds? Cool snowballing idea, would like to see different skill buff choices though. Namely skip cold hand for futility belt or sth

Red text: It’s dangerous to go alone. Take this.

Effect: After activating either Digi-Clone or SNTL, hold the action skill button to summon an additional Clone/Drone. Clones have slightly reduced health and drones have slightly decreased damage. Position swaps and attack commands will always affect the original summon.

Boosts: Synchronicity (note: summons do share a duration unless one gets destroyed. Having additional ones does not further stack synchronicities damage bonus), Good Misfortune, Donnybrook

Yup. That’s the general idea - this also applies to kill skill strength , so 45% --> 65% --> 85% etc. I did think about it a bit more and changed Cold Hand for Good Misfortune.

Actually that war chief is kind of the idea I had for another class mod: Doppelgänger
Red text: " 2 is a pair, 3 is a party!"
Zane now summons 2 digiclones. They share their health and duration. (These count as 2 separate action skills) boom enhance could also consume up to 6 here, 3 for each, giving more reason for you to have pocket full of grenades. Also, you swap with the one on the left always (I imagine they would be in a V from deployment)
Boosts: boom enhance, pocket full of grenades, donnybrook

You might also just enable to choose clone as first and second AS. Better control over the whole idea and situation.
That would be better imo, because you could make tactical swaps with one or another clone. Also you could use double barrels weapon clone effect to summon two different weapons.

Maybe. That would make it simpler to manage, but the idea I was thinking around (and why it doesn’t boost any of his “multiple” action skills skills) is that it could either work for 1 action skill zane with grenades that would allow you to still get full benefit from things like synchronicity and borrowed time, or with another action skill to get a bump past standard synchronicity and borrowed time, but not as much as with a dedicated class mod to them. Also, boom enhance is an awesome skill to get 2/1 in, and that alone would make the clone way stronger.

While I would generally agree, if they add ridiculous diminished return like with really expensive jacket 2/1 then it would not be worth it.

True, I almost had a heart attack when I saw one of zanes 1 pointers in his barrier tree had a com that boosted it ( I use all of them when I go down that tree) and was so disappointed when I saw I wasnt suddenly the neutralizer to dots with it boosted. It’s not even like that would be op, compared to other things that can happen in the game…

Yeah it basically just is so you don’t have to go up that tree, which is generally a nice idea just not with that skill.

Man I really hope they dont shaft DFC when it gets a com that boosts it. I would be so sad if it was only like +6% more effectiveness and +2 sec from a boost
Also, feel free to use this thread to “redesign” his coms he already has as well, might give some ideas as shockerator and cold warrior either need damage boosts or reworks, and techspert… I don’t know about that one.

Also, off topic but I feel the need to say it: I love zane, as a character in the world and to play, so I would love for him to have better coms that he currently does (some are fine, but others aren’t). Funnily enough, I actually played all the characters he has been compared to or i feel he is most like ( Athena, Jack, Mordecai, Zero (Though I dont understand zero))
Edit: on second thought, is he like zero because of the high skill ceiling? That might be it.

Yeah, the Zer0 comparisons are a little weird. Zer0 is my most played character in any Borderlands game and whilst there are a few simularities, I’d say that Zer0 still has the most simularities to FL4K, even disregarding the fact that one of FL4K’s action skills is very simular to his Decepti0n.
