SO i got down to test pets truly and here is what i found

FIrst and fore most i realize gbx does not balance those around mayhem but since bear got such huge buffs i was like okay maybe clone and drone can help now. Well nope…

here is how i feel about pets after seeing them do m4 and then normal mode.

SNTNL: grabo literally exists to trigger bonus 50% annointment
winter’s drone- since most enemies have shields and shields resist cryo it just halves drones dmg and barely freezes anything on it’s own, you can see from gameplay… verdict-trash tier augment but servicable in normal mode when most factions do not have shields.

bad dose-still 3 dmg dot ticks are low af only reason to use it is to get very small self buff on fire rate mostly 2% sometimes maybe 4. verdict-trash tier augment even in tvhm only gets to work if enemy is only flesh

boomsday-so it does 5k instead of 2 huge buff! except for it amounts to nothing. verdict-trash tier augment but servcable in regular game.

static field-actually does less damage then listed :DDDDDDD does not even tacle mayhem shields at all can occasionally make enemies stagger. verdict-trash tier augment even for normal tvhm it does fux all

allmighty ordenence-can actually kill trash mobs on normal tvhm and reset duration mega win poggers. absolutely useless for mayhem 2+ settings

overall verdict-clone is dogshit at everything in endgame can be used to some effect in normal game and maybme mayhem 1. only good it does is activate your annointment for long time since it does not die. absolute must pick!

ClONE-good with double barrel trash without it.

binary system-who even picks this? 3k dmg good fun for normal mode unusable endgame

schadenfreude- i don wanna taco about dis, do you wnna taco about dis?

which one is real-i am fairly convinced this is a memegument because it does fux all

dopplebanger-does it’s job but explodes way too slow

digital distribution-actually god tier for survival but if you want your clone alive instead of yourself also an iffy pickup.

overall verdict-quite ■■■■ but double barrel is worth it

sadly i do not see this getting better any time ever.

They are so tepid with Zane its bizarre.

They “buffed” drone to 100% but a 100% of nothing doesnt amount to much.

Its not complicated to fix it. Just make some of its abilities scale like skills scale for tvhm. mayhem 3.

In addition, they “buffed” violent violence to make it stack but then nerfed its base stats.

Ive compared it to Scorching RPMS before and how bad it is compared to that skill not even factoring in the required kill skill. Guess what? They buffed Scorching RPMs further!

I still think VV sucks for a kill skill even when stacking.

The only real buff Zane got was Donnybrook and im convinced its bc they didnt realize how big of a buff it was.

They added Iron bear stats to most of Moze’s regular skills, they added pet damage to most of Fl4k’s regular skills, surely they can add some Clone or Drone stats to Zanes regular skills.

I used to go barrier/clone, but once I worked out the kinks of my build, that clone is the sickest pet in game. Far superior to ib, it’s just how you make it work for you. Bra cause it’s immobile it started with the best modifiers but most don’t use what the clone can do because we just want what we want. I thought Amara was going to give me the play style I wanted but how wrong was I. So happy I tried all of them to get an idea of what the vault hunter is really about.
But I digress, your original point is sentinel is pointless with dps without 50% dam anoint. I find it to be more of a buff bot than a dps machine like the clone. Without anoints it can substantially increase fire rate and heal all the while permanently debuffing all the mobs around and stops boss shield regen entirely. It can also do cold damage for Cryo builds but they are nerfed hard. It also can toss a nade out, and pending on nade used that can be a nice push or lifesaver every 15 secs.
Power isn’t always dps.

It doesnt buff Zane to any meaningful extent. At all.

Personally, I’m loving it. By far the biggest diff from before is that my Clone doesn’t get one shotted anymore. On M4 I give him a Lyuda and let him freeze everyone up while I finish them off with the Facepuncher. Other times I put in a Cutpurse and give him the Facepuncher and just go ham with the Scourge.

I haven’t used the Drone in a while, but it doesn’t need babying, which was always a big plus. Bad dose can make you noitcably faster, you just gotta hit big groups. And I don’t think it was ever meant to be damaging, the AoE on kill is where it’s at. The other augments I’ll agree, I hardly ever use them. If you want to freeze with it just give him a cryo hex. I also like the drone for target acquisition, but as it’s now the Drone is definitely his worst skill.

The Clone though, is a close second to the Barrier. He doesn’t even need Doubled Barrel to proc CCC, but DB gives so much versatily

Yeah, it’s good and bad at the same time because people feel gated into certain play styles and it’s hard to ignore by popular opinion as the implementation of build styles for characters isn’t what the characters describe themselves as. I wanted Amara to be a elemental god, and she was so much more than just elemental damage. I wanted flak to be a pet god and that’s actually Zane. So they are well thought out characters but they deceive us in where their real power lies.
