Round 1 of Slaughter Shaft, but with 5 negative modifiers

In my infinite quest to prove that Zane is not weak, I share with you the power of the Flesh Melter.

I’ve run this exact com before in a different video and was wildly impressed with its damage, so I decided to see what it could do when the odds are heavily stacked against it.

No CCC, no barrier, no double barrel/cutpurse, 1 action skill, no Old-U. Just runnin’ and gunnin’ and flesh meltin’.

This would’ve been an extremely quick speed run with regular modifiers and a joke with positive ones. If you see Flesh Melters, particularly Grenadier ones, I would pick them up.

Also, in case anyone was wondering, I only record round 1 not because these builds aren’t capable of full clears, but because no one wants to sit and watch 30-45 minutes straight of the same thing.

That was entertaining as f***

Agreed. Very much liked not only the display of the build in action, but the video itself was great.

“3.5” we count these

Funny video, I’d rather would like to watch round 5 than round 1, but oh well.

I figured round one would be fine because SS doesn’t get significantly harder as it goes on like the other ones do.

Only thing in SS you have to worry about in the first place are the Hardeneds. It’s not like Slaughterstar where you get robots and hounds, 2 bosses, flying enemies, and heavyweights everywhere.

give this man a PC so he does not have to suffer this FOV XD

p.s. it is not a meme flash melter will own maliwan take down mark my words.

I’ve been running it for two weeks now. It’s also how I hit 4M damage and you can run entire maps with 1 Ghast Call and any decent corrosive weapon.

Yeah, Moxsy did a whole SlaughterStar with a Flesh Melter with 4 players. I was…surprised.

Nice run, just curious why you would not put one point into Fractal Frags to at least get one grenade every time you summon clone?

I don’t even remember at this point. The build was probably intended to do something else and I just slapped a Flesh Melter right on top.

Flesh Melter is very strong.

You have to keep getting a kill within 8.7 seconds for the stacks to maintain right?

Yes, but that’s what makes Ghast Call so good. If you hit it, it most likely will kill the enemy you hit. All the damage I’m doing in this video is -50%.

Flesh Melter also works well with any corrosive gun. I’ve tested it with hyperfocus / mngwa / bagronk / smart gun xxl / turbo 10 gal / sleeping giant / cutsman / breath of the dying / kaos / barrage / and some other guns.

I did the same thing with a non phasezerker/ non melee Amara build with stacking negative modifiers. I only recorded round 5 because it took like 15 minutes a round.

I don’t watch many BL content creators and none of the “bigger” ones except Thicc who I am a member/mod of his discord.

I do like watching people’s runs, but I know I am probably a minority in this aspect. It’s easier to just watch one round and get the feel of if/how a build works.

I only watch videos posted on the forums by those that actually made them, like you. Not promoted click bait.

I post them here because I want people to learn how to play Zane.

Not minimizing any complaints about him, but more so than anything you have to learn how to use the toolbox now that there is more information on how the tools actually work.

Each skill in a vacuum besides Playing Dirty, Quick Breather, Fractal Frags, and Double Barrel (which still requires you to know what guns to use), feel pretty basic/underwhelming. I don’t think other skills are bad (besides Nerves of Steel which is awesome but has poor functionality), but they aren’t good alone.

That’s 4 skills that regardless of build will be useful out of all of his other skills. I don’t count any cryo-stuff because it requires some dedicated synergies.

If you come from Fl4k / Moze / Amara who just need to build any form of damage, it’s natural to feel that Zane is much weaker. Although I do not play any other VHer, I have a cursory idea of how they all work and know that they all circumvent damage mechanics in a significant way that makes them much easier to build.

Fl4k gets ton of stacking damage from anything he does and can crit without trying, allowing him bonus damage that compensates for any elemental resistances. Also most of that damage is flat “damage” that applies to anything he does so you can use the same damage buffs for a variety of builds.

As much as people praise Moze, it’s ironic that most of the builds I see all do the same thing and build off splash damage. With the amount of bonus splash she does and the fact she can do it with any splash weapon and splash being in general the best damage type makes her very easy to play.

Amara has conditional damage, but a lot of it, and can do damage in any element and all of them at the same time. This means no matter what gets nerfed by Mayhem modifiers you will do damage anyways. Her anointments are also ridiculously scaled, which is not a fair comparison to anyone else.

I don’t think Zane is weak. Just like I don’t think Moze or Fl4k are broken or Amara is OP, with the exception of Do Harm interaction. I play all the Vault Hunters. I just haven’t dove into Zane yet in depth.

You and @Hexxusz0r are doing good work to prove the is good, just maybe needs a few tweaks as all the Vault Hunters do.

I don’t think they are broken either. I definitely think they are easier conceptually.

Also tyvm

The only Zane main I watch really is Kai_TW on twitch. Not big into youtube myself. I’ve never copied builds on any VH and pretty much ignore build explanations for the most part however sometimes things stick out which I didn’t know and I’ll pick up on that tidbit of info.

For example while I was playing lurking in Kai’s stream he was going over his build and I learned that the Clone cannot proc CCC with a cryo weapon(it needs to crit to proc) which can actually end up detrimental if you give it a cryo weapon if you are trying to get CCC procs.

I very much enjoy watching runs people post on this forum however. I very much like seeing the different ideas people come up with and the different styles of play they do.
