Good news, to be sure, but where do we go from here? What changes?
Cold Bore is now a functional ability for one, and Winter’s Drone gets some life as does Binary System, but what about Calm, Cool, Collected, and Refreshment, and interactions with Brain Freeze?
We’ve seen how Brain Freeze had hidden stacks even on these freeze-immune enemies, eventually leading to the ability to proc Calm, Cool, Collected.
Now cryo damage will work, letting us use our best cryo weapons to damage and slow as we like without swapping for particular enemies! The great hope here is that max slow from cryo damage acts as freeze for Anointed enemies as well.
We know that freeze occurs at 20% health with 100% cryo efficiency - in other words you must deal 80% of their health in damage to freeze with a 100% efficiency weapon. 40% of health at 200% efficiency; 26.67% of health at 300% efficiency; et cetera. Hopefully, despite being immune to the freezing effect, they are still treated frozen at the frozen damage threshold - even earlier with Brain Freeze - to really let Zane shine!
But it also means Cold Bore will work on them, so that’s pretty solid. And cryo grenades like the hex or whispering ice can damage them should sentinel or digi clone decide to smack them with a grenade so it isn’t wasted. The Night Hawkin can be reliably used in COV areas against them, should it turn back to cryo. And that’s just a couple I can think of, so really it’s a pretty solid buff.
I know it’s best to use fire or snipe them or even use some rocket launchers, and that’s what I do normally. But on seeing some of the road blocks I mentioned above being lifted against that enemy type, it’s pretty sweet man.
Has anyone noticed that they are immune to Cryo again, guess they didn’t like Zane doing well against Anointed and decide to retro-actively reverse the fix…
