Melee Zer0 key bindings

I play melee Zer0 with a mouse and keyboard and I sometimes fumble with shield stripping / hitting Execute. I’ve got a regular laptop with a Razer Deathadder 2013, the front side button (5) being reload* and the back one (4) being melee. Are there any key combinations that you guys prefer or do I just need more practice?

I use right mouse button. That’s from needing to Panic-knife in COD style games.

My finger is always on it so I can toss it out if I go around a corner and someone pops up. And that’s just what I have used since then.

I prefer not to use extra mouse buttons. I put the rest of them on the keyboard.

I also use the right mouse button. Practice should work unless there’s something fundamentally “wrong” with those buttons (like it’s easy to slip or press two at the same time).

I play basically only a melee zer0 90% of the time and I started off using the default controls and still do. Though, like others said it can be helpful to bind melee to right click. Be warned, its very important to have ADS immediately available, as that 1-second faster deception can save your life many times. (ADS cancels the “casting” animation of deception) I do recommend the default controls as melee is right below grenade, but everyone has preferences on that. You more than likely just need more practice. Also, yay, Pimpernels!

The only problem with the default melee being just below Grenade is that I have to take my finger off D to hit melee.

That means I lose 1/4 of my maneuverability. Now, one swipe, it’s not that bad. However, if I’m circle-strafing someone and melee’ing him to keep Backstab bonuses up, I just lost 50% of my movement. I can only strafe left while constantly melee’ing.

I have very weird but functional (for me) layouts. But I have reasons for each.

I also have ADS mapped to caps lock. Always available. My pinky is only ever tied up for the brief moment that I tap it to sprint.

I use my thumb for both jump and melee when I have to counterclockwise strafe, but I can see your point. I prefer clockwise strafing because of the inconvenience of doing it, but I was stubborn enough to learn how to do it either way. If I HAD to change my controls, Id probably have melee bound to control, that’s something you could try out… but it does sound harsh on the pinky…
