The Once and Future Gearbox

Well, in the glaring silence on these boards across all 3 Borderlands eiscussion sections, it seems that newfound interest in all things Borderlands are at a definite wane right now.

Not saying that no one’s playing, just that very few people are moseying on over to these boards to talk about it.

So…where do you see Gearbox going from here?

I know they have other titles aside from Borderlands; what are they?

Are they active?

Do any of you guys play them?

Do you think Gearbox has enough irons in the fire to keep themselves viable for a while?

Will they take the time to make Borderlands 3 the mind-blowing, huge, epic masterpiece that it could be?

Or will they rush out a flawed, disappointing product to make up for recent losses?

I think they will put a lot of time and effort into BL3. No reason to do otherwise. BL2 was a tremendous success in part because it was a very polished product.

With a new generation of consoles out and plenty of new tech to play with, they will surely bring out the big guns.

Right now they’re worried about Battleborn, which is being released soon. As for BL3, they are still in the very early stages of it. Probably won’t be released until about 2017-2019.

Oh yeah, and they’re also working on patching and balancing the Homeworld remasters. And maybe doing some more patching for TPS and THC. They have a bit on their plate right now…

Stop making me depressed, man. After all the hate Pre-Sequel got and the affair with 2K Austrailia and Matthew leaving, I am not sure I want to even be reminded of this. I’d much rather run Denial Subroutine then facing these glaring details. We already saw what happened with Duke Nukem Forever, which was in development for quite a while. I just hope to see Borderlands 3’s release to be even bigger than that of Borderlands 2, making the top charts everywhere. Everyone would be talking about it, GOTY awards being throw at it left and right, kickass DLC campaigns, and even more loot. Just like with Borderlands 2, except even more praised and bigger. Hell, I would just be happy if Pre-Sequel just got 3 more DLC campaigns, but we all know that sadly won’t happen. It sure is a depressing world, and people like us just have to suffer through it. Guess time will tell in the end, it always does.

With borderlands 3, don’t listen to what the fans want the characters/story just because it is what the fans want. Look at what happened with TPS and all the hate it got. They should just do their own thing like with bl1 and bl2. But make the respawn more like BL1

If Battleborn is not super successful…

Watch for a surprise game like TPS was…or some surprise additional DLCs to BL2 or TPS

They will need the cash to get them to BL3.

If and only if BB is shaky as a moneymaker.

A surprise half game add-on to BL2 would make millions…Every BL2 junkie on the planet would buy it.

And don’t tell me they couldn’t do it…

With the Handsome collection they could do it for pc, xboxone, and ps4. I dont know if they would do that leaving ps3 and xbox360 behind but I think that would be amazing to do more bl2 dlc

Borderlands 2 already has a ton of content, anymore would probably be pushing it with Borderlands 3’s story. Pre-Sequel could really use more DLC campaigns in my opinion, that could easily redeem the game for a lot of stubborn people. Claptastic Voyage was amazing anyways and I would like to see more DLC campaigns like that.
