Save game in Creature slaughterdome?

Hi, I wanted to farm the midgets, but there doesn’t seem to be any way to save in the Creature Slaughterdome.

I know entering and leaving is supposed to get you to respawn there when you quit, but it’s not working for me?

On the old board there was supposedly a fix for this; does anyone know it?

Thanks in advance.

Don’t know why it’s not working for you: assuming that your game is fully patched, then simply entering and exiting the CSD should trigger a save; if you quit while in the “box room” area, you should be just outside the CSD entrance when you restart. You could try accepting round 1 of the CSD arena match to see if it makes a difference (it shouldn’t, but you never know…)

It’s not that complicated. Just go into the Natural Selection Annex and go up the lift to the right.

Then walk up to the viewing window and the white wrting “Natural Selection Annex” will appear at the top of the screen.

That’s it. All there is to it. Go farming midgets and save/quit when finished.

When you reload you’ll be at the door to the Annex.

Unfortunately it’s simply not working. I’ve tried it before and after doing the Natural Selection fights.

All the bugs are hurting my love for this game; I just want to play it as it was intended.

I play on PC on Steam - does it download patches automatically or do I have to download them somewhere?

Do you go all the way in, up the elevator and all the way to the window?

As for updates, can’t you ‘check for updates’ on Steam? Sorry PS4 user here, but my daughter uses Steam - I’ll ask her tonight.

Yes, thanks, I went up and all the way to the window.

I have tried this before and after doing the 5 battles.

It simply does not save at the door to Natural Selections Annex, it always puts me back to the start of Wildlife Preserve.

I’ve even tried dying in the Arena to see what happens - I respawn at the correct door when I die, but not when I quit and save.

@anlerransmaids: Had the same problem trying for P&T. Try entering, exiting, then tripping the checkpoint right before the vending machines. I’m not sure if that’s what works, but I’m not getting that problem anymore.

Someone is saying it requires the collection of all 10 samples, so I’ll try that tonight.

Oh yeah I forgot about that - I always get the ten samples during the story mission as a matter of course. That would be it I’d say.

I’m not sure this makes a difference, I don’t remember collecting all the samples on my playthrough and still being able to reload outside the CSD. I also haven’t needed to go all the way up to the window inside the CSD for it to trigger the save point, I just need to walk through the door, wait for the auto save to finish then exit again (this is on PS3 though, not sure how this differs on steam).

Could you run back from the box room and back into the CSD and save/reload from there? it’d take a little bit longer and be a bit of a pain, but it would still save you a lot of time running through the WEP. Or will it not let you reload inside the CSD either?

I couldn’t get it to work until i did these things;

  1. Complete story mission
  2. Collect 10 slag samples for tannis
  3. Have doctors orders active
  4. Have animal rights active
  5. Go into annex and discover the location
  6. Farm time

This has worked for me on ps3 and ps4 as well as my daughter on pc.

There’s a thread about it on steam forums too.

I usually pick up the slag samples anyway, because it doesn’t affect the LLM spawns. Now that it’s been mentioned, though, I do remember not picking them up will spawn you back at the beginning since you can’t complete that optional quest unless you start from the first building in the animal area, and there’s no spawn point there.

You do not need animal rights active, though - I’ve done LLM farming before even accepting that mission, and have respawned just outside the annex successfully.

Animal rights active reduces some spawns though, speeding up the run. Might as well make everything as fast as possible.

Depends on what level you currently are, and whether or not you want the mission reward at max level. It’s not a bad reward to take, and I prefer to max that one.

Ahh, fair point. I’m happy enough just to reset the playthrough for mission rewards…I can speed run this game pretty quick these days!

Hotfixes are downloaded automatically and applied provided you’re connected to the Internet. By default, Steam automatically updates all of your games unless you tell it not to. There hasn’t been an actual patch since before TPS came out, so you should be good to go there.

Got it, guys! Thanks for the help!

The trigger seems to be getting all ten of the optional objective samples… I’ve no idea why that should be!

Got all of them, didn’t complete the Bloodwing part, and now I can respawn at the Arena.

Weird, but there you go, the game is full of strange quirks.

Thanks for all your help, BL people!

I think it’s because the first samples are placed before the annex entrance. That way, you still have the chance of picking them up if you save and quit or die after passing the annex.

@anlerransmaids: If you were trying to save over there, this might indicate whether it worked or not. Before starting your game, check your character’s save file – normally it would say 3 things:

  • File Name. If you didn’t custom-name it, it’ll be the character’s name by default.
  • Character’s Level at time of last (auto-)saved.
  • Location of last (auto-)save.

So if my OP8 Axton were named “Maj. Payne” and failed to save there, it’d read something like “Maj. Payne - Level 72 - Wildlife Exploitation Preserve</font color>”. However, I checked when I started spawning outside of the NSA’s door (instead of having to walk through WXP again), and my file reads “Maj. Payne - Level 72 - (no location)</font color>”.

101, I’m running my GUN/MEC pair through there, so I checked by loading each character from the main menu – they both turned up without a location tag on the filename, and spawned outside the NSA door.

I’m using other characters too and it’s the same for all of them - you only respawn at that door after collecting all ten Slag smaples.
