Longest Yard with Jack

Not seeing much talk about this Railgun with Jack, in theory it should work well with company man and appropriate class mods boosting critical hit damage and hyperion guns. What do you guys think?

I think it requires further testing. I will not be doing so though since my Jack isn’t in a position to do much testing :frowning:

If you are specced into the hyperion-centric skills and you can hit crits with it, its a beast. However, I find that I am much more successful overall with either a shock hyp blaster or splitter. I have a glitched splitter that has 4 in extra pellets and it drains Eos’s shield in a couple of seconds, glitched or not. If your play style favors rail gun, the longest yard (and excalibitch) is your huckleberry.

It’s in Top Gear… idk how much more appreciated it could be.

It has one of the highest additive (Type A) Crit Boost of all Hyperion Gear, but, Jack (and Willhelm) are a couple of the Characters with the highest Critical Bonuses in the Game, and when you’re overloading an additive Crit bonus, you become more interested in guns with Higher Base Damage/DPS (Especially when you consider that Jack can make them not consume ammo), Guns with Multiple Pellets/Projectiles (Your Shotguns, Double Pistols, and Splitters), or guns with a Multiplicative Crit Bonus (Your Jakobs Weaponry and whatnot).

That being said, the LY isn’t a bad gun by any means (It is TG after all), it’s just when you’re considering Optimizing Gear for DPS, you rarely want more of the same.

A gun for Direct Comparison to the LY is the Mining Laser, yes the Crit damage bonus isn’t as high, BUT you’re shooting 3 projectiles and therefore are therfore abusing more of Jack’s natural strengths than you would be with the LY. Same argument for why snipers like the Droog or Skullmasher perform better than the Fremington’s Edge.
