Hi guys basically I’m after a shock vladof blaster and figured red chest farming would be the best way of going about this. So I’ve been going through thousand cuts with rockos modern strife active farming the two red chests and llm’s at the same time then goin to the holy spirits and grabbing the easy one there the save quitting and goin over the same route. Just wondered if anyone knows of any more easily farmed red chests I can add into this run?
Arid Nexus Badlands has three good red chests that are very easy to farm. I’ve done well out of those. There are also a few other (crappy) chests in the area and a Hyperion red chest at the end, if you can be bothered going that far. I always just farmed the three ‘easy’ ones though because it was (overall) quicker.
You get Tubby Skags in that map too, so there’s that as well.
If you have the Torgue dlc, you can go into the side entrance for the Torgue Arena. There are 3 red chests that take just a couple minutes to run. IIRC, enemies don’t even respawn.
That’s probably the fastest 3 red chests you can find in the game. Mercenary day headhunter pack is always a good choice as well. The train is a good place for etechs and if you want, there are 2 more red chests that don’t take too long to get to with minimal fighting if you want to ignore it.
I have never tried this one - thanks for the tip!
If you got it, I like the Wattle Gobbler. Fun to kill, drops tons of look, and then three red chests right after him.
Here are some good spots in the main game. You can use these as you progress through a playthrough as well as at the end. Please excuse the soundtrack. It was made for friends, one of whom was a big Quo fan
If you have DLC2, there’s a good run in the Torgue Arena. Do this after completing Tina’s cookie mission and there will be no opposition.
Red Chests in the Torgue Arena
If you have DLC4 then here’s my favourite 5 chest run in The Forest. If you can be bothered to kill the Treants, you also have the chance of a Bee shield drop. I use it mainly for the unique mods.
Good luck
If it’s available, the chest at the end of Hero’s Pass is excellent for farming - travel to vault of the warrior and back again, open the chest, save+quit, load up again and just keep opening the chest. All those other farm routes are at least 40 seconds per chest. Once you get through hero’s pass, which can take maybe 5-10 minutes, you’re looking at mere seconds per red chest.
Wow thanks for all the replies gonna have to get cracking got absolutely loads to go at now
I didn’t know about the Opportunity one either. Thank you.
It’s occured to me how little notice I’ve actually taken of chest farming in BL2. Can’t imagine why when it was such a big part of BL1. Oh, that’s right, it’s been a waste of time until the recent drop buff
Same here. I used to explore every corner of the map in BL1 to find random chests, but I haven’t done that for a good while in BL2. It’s just not been worth the effort to get Greens and Whites all the time
If you have a quick way to kill the son of craw. You can farm his treasure room. Plus all the other chests in that headhunter pack. Totals to about 15 red chests i think. And in my opinion is one of the best areas to farm for loot in bl2. Youll find what you need in no time. Its not super quick though. Just thought id mention cause its one my favorite spots for red chest farming.
Even before the drop rate tweaks, I got several really nice e-techs, a few legendaries, and a couple of pearls out of red chests. You just have to open all of them, all the time. You also get some ammo, and stand a chance of getting eridium (useful if you still need it for upgrades.)
Moral of the story: ALWAYS open the red chests! It’s not like it takes long. There are maps over on orcz.com showing locations and routes IIRC.
I always open any chests I find. You’re right that it would be silly not to as there’s always a chance to get something, even if it is low. My point, which maybe I didn’t put across so well, is that I gave up searching everywhere for them as the rewards were far too low for the effort involved. In BL1 you found red chests in the most random places and when you did the chance of a decent reward was pretty high, which encouraged you to explore very inch of the map. And after I found them I went out of my way to visit them again. In BL2, I soon got tired of painstakingly combing an area for little return. Even when I did eventually find a chest, the excitement was quickly tempered by the garbage it spewed. So after a while I didn’t bother and just went straight to my objective. It’s a little sad in a way.
A case in point is the so called dev chest near the Warrior. What’s the point of putting a chest in such a secret place only for it to grant you a couple of green items? Talk about wishing I hadn’t bothered! What a waste!
Farmin chests is how I got most of my loot. Hayters Folly has 4 chests that I farm a lot. Most of the time those chests give blue or higher. I like random loot as opposed to farming designated loot sources.
I ususally go in the arid nexus badlands, there are 3 red chest, 1 hyperion, and an other one (dahl probably, i don’t remember).
You could always farm the treasure room at the end of dlc1 but unless you use the route after the treasure of the sands mission (a glitch path which I wouldn’t do) you have to kill roscoe and the leviathan every time but with the right gear it only takes a couple minutes
I thought you could only enter the treasure room once per play through or am I mistaken?
You get a second chance as a side quest from Shade after completing the main story.
