Rough Rider broken?

A friend was asking what’s the purpose of it. I remembered seeing threads about it on BL3 so I looked for current builds as example.
From what I’ve read it seem to be broken/glitched in BL3?
Any update?

if u would say why it is broke. for example. whats broken about?

Compared to BL2 where it was used as an “always down” shield.
In BL3 I’ve read several comments/threads stating it was never full and never down.

Zane has some skills in his tree that increase his damage depending on how low his shield is. So if you are building that way, rough rider is core on that particular build.

I run rough rider on Zane. It works well so I don’t understand why you think it’s broken

Yeah, unfortunately RR is behaving funny like you said and is currently considered to be never full and never empty. I think this is an item bug as it should be considered always down for all intents and purposes.

We’ll have to see if Gbox gets around to fixing it sometime.

I could had titled it differently and make a longer post explaining what I understand about it… And what I don’t.
Early morning post before leaving home looking for opinions from people who actually tried it. As I don’t have one yet to test myself.
So… You’re saying you’re running it on Zane? That’s my friend VH as well. (And mine too :slight_smile: .)
I’ll look at his skill trees but can you tell me which skills you see it helped?

Or either they saw potential in this “new feature” made it that way on purpose .
Now it’s up to us to make it work.

Yeah, it’s a bit wonky. Apparently it’s not considered to be always empty or always full. This means that it has poor interaction with many Zane skills. For instance, if you want to run Rough Rider on Zane to negate the shield criteria of his Calm, Cool, Collected skill, you have to put points into 1 of the 3 first tier skills, all 3 of which have zero functionality with rough rider, effectively forcing you to waste skill points. The shield has poor synergy with Zane’s Adrenaline, Rise to the Occasion, Confident Competence, and Nerves of Steel skills currently, so you have to sacrifice alot just to negate the shield criteria of Calm, Cool, Collected.

I’ve found this shield being lvl12 and use it still being lvl50, never took another one so far.
I say the best shield in BL3…

Does “Topped off” function with this shield if it’s never considered full?

What is topped off? Just went through all 4 skill trees and didn’t see it. Is that one of the guardian rank perks?

Edit: Yes, it is. As far as I know Topped Off won’t function with Rough Rider just like most of Zane’s skills that are based on shield amount won’t function with it, since it’s never considered full or empty.
