Weird choice of backstory

Well, the backstory absolutely doesn’t explain how Timothy aquired his fighting skills. I mean, he isn’t a professional mercenary like Wilhelm or Athena, he is a poor student who needs to pay his debt. How can he be so expericed with guns to match other Vault Hunters?

He got a neural implant when they did the facial surgery, Matrix style? Or maybe you just had to be extra aggressive in his college’s dining hall if you wanted to actually eat…

Uhh… He took a minor in armed combat? He was a natural talent in his college’s annual turkey shoot? Because reasons?

It’s almost like after the surgery they aggressively taught him how to be Jack…

How to be a Charismatic Douche, Accelerated Edition
:P.

However, Timothy is still a better fighter than Jack, and I’m sure that’s what the question is.

Hey I mean with Jack’s ego, it doesn’t really matter how well Jack actually fights

I know

Hence the title here :P.

Before the Doppel gig, Timothy part-timed as a substitute teacher in the same high school on Eden-5 that later produced Gaige. It could be a pretty rough place.

Actually. . . starting out, timothy is a godawful fighter.

His punching arm’s got mediocre form, almost nothing notable in terms of skills that make him a good fighter starting out, and his action skill literally summons holograms both to take the heat for him and fight on his behalf.

It is by the nature of the aggressively violent circumstances in which he finds himself that Timothy learns both to perform his new multi-decade job well under pressure, but also to actually fight and be a badass.

Clearly Timothy has had some amount of weapons training, but yeah.

In fairness to Timothy’s competence re: action skill, literally every character but Nisha is using some nifty piece of tack to perform their action skill - the Aspis, Wolf and Saint, Vaulthunter.EXE, Digi-jacks and the Diadem.
