The clone is beyond worthless in TVH+M3 if you don’t have it. Pitiful 300-400 damage shots without Double Barrel. Not that Double Barrel completely fixes the clone, because reusing the skill while it’s active with a target selected should redirect the clone’s target, and he should use the gun’s current elemental mode (if the gun has 2 like most maliwan, he just defaults to one mode even if it’s not he one you have selected).
Other fixes Zane needs is for the drone to have its cd reduced to 30 seconds. I can understand the pitiful damage and dubious capacity to even freeze targets on its own, but if all it will be good for is to apply double dose debuffs and get targets out of cover, it needs to not be on such a humongous cooldown if it is to ever be free of requiring cool, calm, and collected to be used.
Finally, the kill skills. The current bonuses need to be passive at all times and just get doubled for the given duration when you get a kill.
Zane’s base damage is absolutely atrocious and in TVH+M3 short of exploiting broken legendary guns like Lyuda or Lucian/Roland’s call, enemies take way too long to dispatch to keep the bonuses reliably going, especially when you get matched against 2 anointed bullet sponges with the rocket launcher mobs spamming screen covering explosions all the way from Timbuktu.
His barrier is the only remotely functional and worthwhile skill given its cooldown and potency, and even then it hampers him because his whole survivability is balanced around the assumption that he’s using it, while his other trees’ survival tools are lacking.
Old-U is absolute trash compared to Guardian Angel, Fl4k, or even Moze’s revives. Zane is most vulnerable when his action skills are down, and the clone is used on cooldown in order for him to have acceptable DPS and crowd control elemental application to begin with, so the clone will never be up when you actually need it to revive.
Make Old-U refresh your clone cooldown, make you able to revive with half health and shields when you activate it and give it Guardian Angel’s cooldown.
I’ve given up on my level 50 Zane. With mediocre gear, the Fl4k I just rolled a few days ago is so much more powerful and easy to play in every way, it’s not even close to anything I’d call balance. Zane needs buffs in a lot of ways before I’m going to spend any more time with him.
Depends on the gun? I run Lucian’s Call for cryo, shock Lyuda, cutter SMG for corrosive, and The Duc as that weapon does incredibly well on the clone and as pointed by others the miniexplosions don’t suffer the damage penalty of the clone.
With Lucian’s you aim for crits not only for the freeze but for the ricochet damage as well. Lyuda’s pretty obvious, and with Cutter you’re not to picky given the nature of the projectiles.
Certainly not getting the same results out of Lucian’s Call that I see other people get with Amara.
Everything about Zane is weaker, and the only time I feel useful is by dropping barrier for my Fl4ks to safely snipe from and get buffed up, since Amara doesn’t need it as she’s pretty much immortal.
I love his character and the potential of his kit, but it is pretty clearly undertuned.
Oh goodness, I’m sorry. I meant, do you stand still or move? Have you fired off while sliding with a snowdrift relic? I haven’t even fully specced up the speed skills and it feels absolutely powerful and fun. Like.
So. My main play style has always been chaotic. But I picked Zane for my co-op game because he seemed like a Chaos character (Clone swaps…WHICH BTW YOU CAN DO IN A SLIDE AND KEEP THE SLIDE. Drone. THEM BOTH RANDOMLY PUTTING OUT GRENADES. One point in Duct Tape for occasional chaos there.) and he does not disappoint in that regard.
But you gotta really keep a move on. His skills are about distraction. About moving and not getting hit and popping around the field making chaos happen.
My partner plays a Melee ButtStab Fl4k and we’re having a blast, because Wock (the Jabber) and I are keeping the enemies attention while they go and do their back stabbing.
I was curious because I would find a Lyuda hard to use properly while sliding, and I think you should give some slide shots a chance
Like most of his kit. I’m a distraction while my friends playing Fl4k and Amara chunk the anointed for a 1/3 of their health while that would take me double if not more of the same time to do that much of an anointed’s HP bar.
When I get Team Robot Monkey into Mayhaps Module, I’ll check back in to let you know how I’m feeling. I don’t pay very much attention to how I’m doing, I just know we’re doing great as a team
(I just got my Amara into Mayhaps Module last night and just met my first Anointed Mobs. Getting introduced while running a Grasp build and having a Negative Gun damage modifier was not Ideal)
But I also saw some people say that they weren’t sure it was triggering buffs. I know it was giving me speed buffs. And the buffs are indicated by some red lines along the outer sides of the screen…
Which…I thought was my monitor eating a rod, so… That was fun.
The shield steal custom sucks ass too, barely does any damage to shields and barely gives you any. Like pretty much most of the mods not in the Undercover Tree, really undertuned.
I understand if they wanna keep the action skills down to utility and not dps, but then they need to put more baseline power into Zane’s numbers through his damage boost passives.
As I said, make the current bonuses from kill skills passive and just boost/double them on kill for some time.
And his baseline shield regen/health restoration talents need to be betetr if they don’t want barrier to dominate most builds.
The only other option I see is him triggering cryo grenades. I wasn´t particularly interested whether he froze by that or brain freeze but only to see whether he freezes at all - and he´s actually damn good at it
