I’ve been testing the rough rider shield as Zane has some interesting perks that I was hoping would be able to take advantage of it as the shield is zero so it’s both full and empty at all times. Unfortunately, adrenaline and confident competence do not work with it. Not surprised but wanted to confirm as some really high dps builds could be squeezed out of Zane if it did. Not sure if it’s intended or not though as there have been a few bugs with his skill lines found. It would be nice if they changed this as it’s a high risk playstyle so it’d be nice to have that high reward on top of it.
Yup it’s unfortunate but it does work with Rise to the Occasion and Cool, Calm, Collected, and the tree has multiple damage resistance skills that can stack with the Rough Rider’s damage reduction. It’d be awesome if it worked with those others you mentioned, but he can still make use of the Barrier Skill tree for survivability.
Cool, calm and collected does specifically say when shields are full so it makes it even more odd that it doesn’t work with other skills that require a full shield. Lots of good skills in that tree but you’re essentially wasting five skill points to use it with Rough Rider as you won’t benefit from any of the initial skills in the barrier tree.
You are wasting 5 points on skills for keeping your shield full if you decide to go rough rider build.
Just leave under cover tree aside.
Zane is best played without spending skill points on it, rofl.

Again lies you can take ready for action brainfreeze and health regen per missing health now yes SMG existence is lackluster but U get down to -50% dots and convert elemental dmg taken to non elemental and then find more life steal rough rider lives barrier skill tree. Just skip adrenaline confident competence and shield capacity buffs
None of the skills in the first line are usable with rough rider @Hexxusz0r Lots of good skills in that tree but you need to get past that first row to get to them. Even a reshuffling of skills so something there can be used before getting to the skills you mentioned would be nice
agree but nobody said rough rider was made to specifically fit zane’s barrier tree, if you want to used it you might have to give up on 5 points but then again neither you have to spec into barrier nor it is zane’s best shield by a mile. shall gbx redesign whole skill tree for one shield on one character? yes reshuffle would be a good option but gbx makes skill trees with general logic of tier 1 skills being survival/fludity aka reload speed swap speed shield recharge delay or rate buffs or mag size buffs, when they put skill further down the tree they generally mean it is more valuable towards end game and while some of those skills might scale poorly they justify the idea that gearbox has about them. for example violent violence is very underwhelming as of now and useless for certain guns like jacobs but imagine that thing with +1 in death follows close and +4 in violent violence now zane turns into firehose who can sit behind barrier and use rerouter and barrier amp from absolute safety.
i do not disagree with your idea but gbx is unlikely to reshuffle skill tree for one item and one character. and i advised to take ready for action just in case sometimes you switch rough rider to rerouter for bossing purpose perhaps.
